Prazer e sofrimento dos trabalhadores de enfermagem em oncologia pediátrica

The nursing work is highlighted through requirements and singularities, especially in pediatric oncology area. In this way, this study aimed to comprehend the livings of pleasure and suffering of nursing workers who act in this specialty; to know the dynamic of work in which they are inserted and identify the defensive strategies used in front of the suffering at work. It is an exploratory, descriptive study, with qualitative approach, performed with 20 workers of nursing who act in pediatric oncology from a teaching hospital in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, in the period of February to May of 2013. It was used the simple observation, a questionnaire to socio-demographic data collection and the Focal Group, which totalized four sessions. To the analysis of data from the questionnaire it was used the descriptive statistic, being performed the participants characterization. The data from Focal Group was analyzed through analysis of content, aiming the construction of thematic representative categories of the analyzed phenomenon, and doing itself approaches with the theoretical framework of Psychodynamics of Work. The observation totalized 60 hours and helped in the description of work dynamics and to reflections about the investigation object. The study attended to the Resolution 196/96 from Conselho Nacional de Saúde, with Certificado de Apresentação para Apreciação Ética, under the number 11366112.5.0000.5346. The participants of research were at the most women, with kids, nurses, between 26 to 56 years old, with a time of service in nursing relatively large, at the most post-graduated, with a day job and no other employments. About the thematic axis, it is resulted three: Between the real work and the prescribed work, which approached the work dynamic of nursing in pediatric oncology, the singularities of work with children and the nursing staff; Pleasure and suffering of nursing workers in pediatric oncology, in which the suffering appeared associated to the assistance to the child; to the living together, with family of this and the questions about work organization; while the pleasure was bound to the child care; recognition of work; interpersonal relationship with colleagues of work and staff and being everything okay at workplace; and, by the end, the thematic axis Defensive strategies used in front of the suffering at the nursing work in pediatric oncology, which approaches the strategies focus on the suffering in the beginning of the assistance; in front of relapses, death and palliative management and other general strategies. These results can serve to the preposition of interventional actions in order to prevent possible risks and health hazards to workers, from building a body of knowledge to assist in raising awareness about the issue in academic and institutional framework.
