Resumo: From the biopsychosocial perspective, mental health includes physiological, emotional, behavioral, cognitive and relational aspects of the individual. It is important to investigate this concept into a social context, understanding that different scenarios can interfere in people's states of well-being and suffering. In the present study, the university was chosen as a field of investigation since a diversity of discoveries and challenges can be observed in academic life. A current challenge refers to the COVID-19 pandemic, which since 2020 has been changing the dynamics of the academic environment to contain the spread of the virus, requiring institutions to adapt to remote teaching. Therefore, the main goal of this study was to know conceptions about mental health and experiences of being a university student during a pandemic. Six students assisted by the Student Assistance Policy of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) participated. Four weekly online conversation groups were conducted through the Google Meet platform. The meetings were recorded and transcribed. Through thematic content analysis, it was possible to reach the results that will be presented in the form of two articles: the first, "Mental health of university students: conceptions, determinant factors and care strategies", proposed to know perspectives on the meaning of mental health, as well as knowing the experiences that impacted on mental health of the university students, which the results indicated that the meanings of mental health cover a biopsychosocial perspective and consider different aspects of daily life, including social and economic elements. In addition, it was possible to understand that being a university student involves facing adverse situations, such as moving to another city, moving away from the family and establishing new bonds in an unknown context, whose adaptation brings impacts to the mental health. The second article, entitled “Experiences of being a university student during pandemic time: changes, adaptations and shared perspectives”, aimed to know experiences of university students during the pandemic, considering changes in their routines, difficulties related to the learning and training processes, as well as possible impacts of the pandemic in their mental health. The results of this article indicated that the changes caused by the COVID-19 coping strategies had a significant impact on the mental health of students, intensifying difficulties that were already experienced before the pandemic. The adoption of teaching in REDE brought insecurities in terms of academic development and the quality of training. Regarding the future, the students' expectations express optimism with the resumption of face-to-face activities, but also apprehension about what will become of the world and the community in the coming years. In general, the research was relevant for providing an environment for sharing experiences, perspectives and strategies between the students, purposing to mental health care. Furthermore, the study made it possible to understand the crossings of the pandemic in academic life, highlighting the role of the university not only in the professional training process, but also in socialization and in execution of activities that promote well-being.

É pertinente que este conceito seja investigado em um contexto social, compreendendo que diferentes cenários podem interferir nos estados de bem-estar e sofrimento das pessoas. Para o desenvolvimento do presente trabalho, a universidade foi escolhida como campo de investigação, por se observar na vida acadêmica uma diversidade de experiências novas e desafiadoras com potencial de impactar a saúde mental de estudantes, especialmente aqueles que se encontram em situação de vulnerabilidade. Um desafio atual refere-se à pandemia da COVID-19, que desde 2020 vem modificando a dinâmica do ambiente acadêmico para contenção da disseminação do vírus, visto que exigiu das instituições a adaptação para o ensino remoto e, posteriormente, uma readaptação ao ensino presencial. Diante disso, este estudo teve por objetivo geral conhecer as concepções sobre saúde mental e as experiências de ser estudante universitário em tempos de pandemia. Participaram seis estudantes assistidos pela Política de Assistência Estudantil da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). Foram realizadas quatro rodas de conversa com periodicidade semanal, por meio da plataforma Google Meet. Os encontros foram gravados e passaram posteriormente por transcrição. Mediante análise de conteúdo temática, foi possível chegar aos resultados que serão apresentados no formato de dois artigos: o primeiro, “Saúde mental de estudantes universitários: concepções, determinantes e estratégias de cuidado”, aborda os significados de saúde mental e as experiências de estudantes de graduação com impacto na saúde mental, cujos resultados indicaram que os significados de saúde mental abrangem uma perspectiva biopsicossocial e levam em conta diferentes aspectos do cotidiano, inclusive elementos sociais e econômicos. Além disso, foi possível compreender que ser universitário envolve o enfrentamento de situações adversas, como mudança de cidade, afastamento da família e estabelecimento de novos vínculos em um contexto desconhecido, cuja adaptação acarreta impactos à saúde mental. O segundo artigo, intitulado “Experiências de ser estudante universitário em tempos de pandemia: mudanças, adaptações e perspectivas compartilhadas”, aborda as experiências de estudantes durante a pandemia, considerando mudanças em suas rotinas, dificuldades relacionadas aos processos de aprendizagem e formação, bem como possíveis atravessamentos da pandemia em sua saúde mental. Os resultados desse artigo indicaram que as mudanças ocasionadas pelas estratégias de enfrentamento da COVID-19 causaram impacto significativo na saúde mental dos estudantes, acirrando dificuldades que já eram vivenciadas antes da pandemia. A adoção do ensino em REDE acarretou inseguranças com relação ao desenvolvimento acadêmico e à qualidade da formação. Com relação ao futuro, as expectativas dos estudantes expressam otimismo com a retomada das atividades presenciais, mas também apreensão com relação ao que será do mundo e da coletividade nos próximos anos. De modo geral, a pesquisa mostrou-se relevante por proporcionar um ambiente para compartilhamento de experiências, perspectivas e estratégias entre os estudantes, com vistas ao cuidado em saúde mental. Ainda, o estudo permitiu conhecer os atravessamentos da pandemia na vida acadêmica, evidenciando o papel da universidade não só no processo de formação profissional, mas também na socialização e na realização de atividades promotoras de bem-estar.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em PsicologiaUFSMBrasilPsicologiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSaúde mentalEstudantes universitáriosPandemiaPesquisa em psicologiaMental healthUniversity studentsPandemicResearch in psychologyCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIASobre ser universitário em tempos de pandemia: experiências, possibilidades e desafios da promoção de saúde mental no percurso acadêmicoAbout being a university student during pandemic time: experiences, possibilities and challenges of mental health promotion in the academic journeyinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisZappe, Jana Gonçalveshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8284151668279300Guazina, Félix Miguel NascimentoDias, Ana Cristina GarciaPatias, Naiana Dapievehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5427075955149119Marinho, Juliana da Rosa700700000001600600600600eea4e392-c889-4ba6-8f55-6e83241b6a5f2afc5c8c-18cf-4622-896b-ac2c0aca616a08648a23-dd1b-4128-933b-fc4948ce6022f00d7a23-dd44-44a4-b17f-2a9dcdde3a0973760eee-52cd-4989-b66a-564fe1fa2809reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
