Resumo: As all technologies, waffle slabs are constantly evolving, and their most recent version is the waffle slabs with openings in the ribs. The innovative geometry of these slabs, in which a considerable volume of concrete is removed from the core of the ribs, allows for more advantages for the structure in terms of its use and design. However, due to the reduction in the concrete cross-section, there is a decrease in the inertia and stiffness of the element, and its behavior regarding the Serviceability Limit State has not yet been analyzed experimentally, theoretically or numerically. This research presents a detailed analysis of the performance of this slab model in terms of the Ser-viceability Limit State, focusing on the vertical deflection of the element, crack devel-opment and equivalence methods. It was possible to determine a standardized equa-tion for the inertia of the cross section with the opening in the rib web, both in stage I and stage II of deformation. When comparing different effective cross-sections, the one that most reflected the experimental behavior, for the prototypes tested in this study and for the full-size field slab, was the shear strength cross-section. With theoretical, experimental and numerical analyses, it was possible to determine an equivalent iner-tia for the element and compare theoretical methods for determining the cracking mo-ment and instantaneous vertical displacements recommended by standards NBR 6118:2023 and ACI 318:2019, verifying which of the models best represents the be-havior of this type of structure, for the geometries studied.

A geometria inovadora dessas lajes, na qual há a retirada de um volume considerável de concreto da alma das nervuras, possibilita mais vantagens para a estrutura quanto ao seu uso e projeto. Porém, devido a diminuição do concreto da seção transversal, há uma diminuição da inércia e rigidez do elemento, e seu comportamento quanto ao Estado Limite de Serviço ainda não foi analisado de forma experimental, teórica ou numérica. O presente trabalho apresenta uma análise detalhada do desempenho desse modelo de lajes quanto ao Estado Limite de Serviço, focado nos deslocamentos verticais do elemento, desenvolvimento de fissuras e métodos de equivalência. Foi possível determinar uma equação padronizada para a inércia da seção transversal com o vazado na alma da nervura, tanto no estádio I quanto no estádio II de deforma-ção. Ao comparar diferentes seções transversais efetivas, a que mais refletiu o com-portamento experimental, para os protótipos testados neste estudo e para laje de campo em tamanho real, fora a seção transversal resistente às tensões de cisalha-mento.
