This dissertation, developed within the scope of the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Heritage at the Federal University of Santa Maria, is inserted in the area of concentration in Architecture and Material Heritage and in the line of research Preservation of Material Heritage. Rail transport, since the Industrial Revolution, has been one of the main modes of transport, essential for the movement of people, products and raw materials. The research proposes the creation of an exhibition based on a timeline about the railway located in the municipality of Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul, highlighting its fundamental role in local development since its construction. The main purpose of the exhibition is to share the unique history of the railway with the public. The final proposal consists of creating a banner exhibition that presents a timeline, highlighting the most important moments of the railway station in Ijuí. The methodology used in this study was qualitative and exploratory in nature (MINAYO, 2002), involving a bibliographic and documentary review based on existing materials about the railway station. Heritage interpretation plays a crucial role in this proposal, as it involves the idea of valuing material and immaterial assets associated with the Ijuí railway station. The results indicate that the stories experienced during the railway station's operating period remain alive in the imagination of the local community.This research was developed in the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Heritage at the Federal University of Santa Maria, in the Architecture and Material Heritage area of concentration, within the research line "Preservation of Material Heritage".
