Resumo: The effect of Cymbopogon flexuosus essential oil nanoemulsion on morpho-adaptive response and its antioxidant potential in silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen) naturally infected by Aeromonas hydrophila was studied. For this, silver catfish (n= 400) were randomly distributed in a water recirculation system consisting of 20 polypropylene boxes, 20 fish per box (4 replicates each treatment). Dietary treatments consisted of five experimental diets supplemented with OECF nanoemulsion at the following concentrations: 0; 0.25; 0.5; 1.0 and 2.0 mL/kg of feed. For Twenty-one days, the animals were fed twice a day (09:00 and 19:00 hours) and the parameters of water quality, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and ammonia were monitored. At the end of the experiment, silver catfish (n= 8) were anesthetized and euthanized to collect biological material. Liver, gill and skin samples were carefully collected for further morphometric and oxidative state analyses. The variables of water quality remained within the range considered ideal for the espécies. The histomorphometric results of gills and skin showed that the highest levels of nanoemulsion of OECF (1.0 and 2.0 mL/kg of feed) have no effect on skin and gill morphometry of silver catfish naturally infected by A. hydrophila. However, the dietary supplementation of OECF nanoemultion at the concentration of 0.5 m/kg feed showed antioxidant effect on the gills of silver catfish naturally infected by A. hydrophila. Silver catfish naturally affected by A. hydrophila presented structures of the normal hepatic parenchyma, indicating thet the nanoemulsion of OECF has a hepatoprotective effect against infection. Thus, the beneficial effects observed in this study indicate the promising use of OECF nanoemulsion in aquaculture.

Thus, the beneficial effects observed in this study indicate the promising use of OECF nanoemulsion in aquaculture.O efeito da nanoemulsão do óleo essencial (OE) de Cymbopogon flexuosus na resposta morfoadaptativa e seu potencial antioxidante em jundiá (Rhamdia quelen) naturalmente infectados por Aeromonas hydrophila foi estudado. Para isso, jundiás (n= 400) foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em sistema de recirculação de água constituído de 20 caixas de polipropileno, 20 peixes por caixa (4 repetições cada tratamento). Os tratamentos dietéticos foram constituídos de cinco dietas experimentais suplementadas com nanoemulsão do OECF nas seguintes concentrações: 0; 0.25; 0.5; 1.0 e 2.0 mL/kg de ração. Durante vinte e um dias, os animais foram alimentados duas vezes ao dia (09:00 e 19:00 horas) e os parâmetros de qualidade da água, temperatura, oxigênio dissolvido, pH e amônia foram monitorados. Ao final do experimento, jundiás (n= 8), foram anestesiados e eutanasiados para coleta de material biológico. Amostras de fígado, brânquias e pele foram cuidadosamente coletadas para posteriores análises morfométricas e do estado oxidativo. As variáveis de qualidade da água mantiveram-se dentro da faixa considerada ideal para a espécie. Os resultados histomorfométricos de brânquias e pele demonstraram que os maiores níveis de nanoemulsão do OECF (1.0 e 2.0 mL/Kg de ração), não possuem efeito sobre a morfometria cutânea e branquial de jundiá naturalmente infectados por A. hydrophila. Porém, a suplementação dietética da nanoemulsão do OECF na concentração de 0.5 mL/kg de ração demonstrou efeito antioxidante nas brânquias de jundiás naturalmente infectados por A. hydrophila. Jundiás acometidos naturalmente por A. hydrophila apresentaram estruturas do parênquima hepático normal, indicando que a nanoemulsão de OECF possui efeito hepatoprotetor contra infecção. Deste modo, os efeitos benéficos observados neste estudo indicam o uso promissor da nanoemulsão do OECF na aquicultura.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em ZootecniaUFSMBrasilZootecniaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAditivo alimentarCélulas mucosasEstresse oxidativoMorfometria da pele e brânquiasFood aditiveMucous cellsOxidative stressSkin and gill morphometryCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::ZOOTECNIAResposta morfo-adaptativa e antioxidante de jundiá (Rhamdia quelen) suplementados com nanoemulsão de Cymbopogon flexuosus na dietaMorph-adaptive and antioxidant response of silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen) supplemented with Cymvopogon flexuosus nanoemulsion in dietinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisCosta, Sílvio Teixeira dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7580918019716877Baldisserotto, BernardoSutili, Fernando JonasVeiga, Marcelo Leite dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8297577985090574Valerio Junior, José Francisco50040000000260060060060060060072693bca-b6dc-45ac-89c2-25115fc292a99da77931-99a4-45c6-82fb-34873aac70809b760330-616c-4671-9767-37cb80c89437660b5925-1aec-4844-98a7-477c924a394ec779c8db-169e-4015-8a74-24952e8cb74creponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_VALERIO_JUNIOR_JOSE.pdfDIS_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_VALERIO_JUNIOR_JOSE.pdfDissertação de Mestradoapplication/pdf1664107http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/28866/1/DIS_PPGZOOTECNIA_2023_VALERIO_JUNIOR_JOSE.pdf377dd38e99bea8b76a7c27a50dd98f30MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
