Resumo: This dissertation has as central theme the social reproduction of rural properties in the municipality of Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, analyzing the generational succession in rural properties characterized by agribusiness. It is an innovative study, advancing on the theme of social reproduction in rural areas, in so far as they propose to make use of the livelihoods approach, whose main author Frank Ellis (2000), together with the approach of the succession models of Ruth Gasson and Andrew Errington (1993). The proposal in this work is centered in understanding the succession processes in rural properties of the municipality of Cruz Alta. More specifically, it was analyzed the strategies used by parents to encourage the permanence of the children and the way these motivations or strategies are fostered by parents within the properties. From this analysis of the strategies, the types or succession models found were presented. The models are built from the way parents infer autonomy over work, management and income of the successors, following the model proposed by Gasson and Errington (1993). The methodology used was a qualitative research, the instrument of data collection was semi-structured interviews, and the procedure used for data analysis was content analysis. The choice of producers was based on the indication in the Rural Unions of the Municipality and the criteria used for selection followed those proposed in the work of Spanevello (2008): Have at least one child, regardless of gender; farmers aged 50 years old or more. This age cut is justified by the fact that the research focuses on cases of a defined or directed situation of succession. There were 31 interviews, covering different properties in terms of size, productive systems and places of residence of managers. The results showed that the greater the portfolio of capital and the quantity of assets available in the producers' livelihoods, the greater the ease of maintaining a successor in the rural property. Therefore, these assets and capital are used as strategies to mobilize generational succession on rural properties. Six strategies types were found: Motivational strategy linked to occupation; Autonomy strategies; New investment strategy; Study supply strategy; Strategy of urban occupation and Strategy of donation of goods. From the strategies of mobilization of Ellis capitals, the succession models found in the rural properties of Cruz Alta / RS were found. It was found seven distinct succession models, where the main variables considered were: the place of residence - rural property or city; business management (bureaucratic, productive management) - partial or total; and income management - income autonomy or dependent on parents.

Trata-se de um estudo sobre a temática da reprodução social no meio rural, na medida em que se propõem fazer uso da abordagem dos meios de vida, que tem como principal autor Frank Ellis (2000), em conjunto com a abordagem dos modelos sucessórios de Ruth Gasson e Andrew Errington (1993). A proposta deste trabalho está centrada em compreender os processos sucessórios em propriedades rurais do município de Cruz Alta. De maneira mais específica, foram analisadas as estratégias utilizadas pelos pais para estimular a permanência dos filhos e a forma como estas motivações ou estratégias são fomentadas pelos pais dentro das propriedades. A partir desta análise das estratégias, apresentaram-se os tipos ou modelos sucessórios encontrados. Os modelos são construídos a partir da forma como os pais constroem autonomia sobre o trabalho, gestão e renda dos sucessores, seguindo o modelo proposto por Gasson e Errington (1993). A metodologia utilizada foi uma pesquisa qualitativa, o instrumento de coleta de dados foi entrevistas semiestruturadas e o procedimento utilizado para análise de dados foi a análise de conteúdo. A escolha dos produtores se deu a partir da indicação nos Sindicatos Rurais do referido Município e os critérios utilizados de seleção seguiu os propostos no trabalho de Spanevello (2008): ter pelo menos um (a) filho (a), independentemente do sexo; agricultores com idade de 50 anos ou mais. Esse recorte etário justifica-se pelo fato de a pesquisa centrar-se em casos de situação definida ou encaminhada de sucessão. Foram realizadas 31 entrevistas, abarcando distintas propriedades em termos de tamanho, sistemas produtivos e locais de residência dos gestores. Os resultados apontaram que quanto maior o portfólio de capitais e da quantidade de ativos disponível nos meios de vida dos produtores, maior a facilidade de manter um sucessor na propriedade rural. Portanto, estes ativos e capitais são usados como estratégias mobilizadoras de sucessão geracional nas propriedades rurais. Foram encontrados seis tipos de estratégias: estratégia motivacional ligada à ocupação; estratégias de autonomia; estratégia de novos investimentos; estratégia de fornecimento de estudo; estratégia de ocupação urbana; e, estratégia de doação de bens. A partir das estratégias de mobilização dos capitais de Ellis, foram encontrados os modelos sucessórios existentes nas propriedades rurais de Cruz Alta/RS. Encontrou-se seis modelos sucessórios distintos, onde as principais variáveis levadas em consideração foram: o local de moradia – propriedade rural ou cidade; gerenciamento dos negócios (gestão burocrática, produtiva) – parcial ou total; e gerenciamento da renda – autonomia de renda ou dependente dos pais.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaUFSM Palmeira das MissõesPrograma de Pós-Graduação em AgronegóciosUFSMBrasilAgronomiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSucessão geracionalMeios de vidaEstratégiasModelos sucessóriosSuccessive modelsGenerational successionLivelihoodsStrategiesCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::AGRONOMIAEstratégias e modelos sucessórios em propriedades rurais do município de Cruz Alta/RSStrategies and successive models in rural properties of the municipality of Cruz Alta / RSinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSpanevello, Rosani Marisahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6662827969659065Matte, Alessandrahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4891738079879327Lago, Adrianohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1448024112231315http://lattes.cnpq.br/2966578236878041Moreira, Sandro da Luz5001000000096008fd10b71-714f-4a1d-b985-3f050177816f870cf0b5-cf2f-4fce-97b7-4eba0a6d04bcca430090-0c7b-4ec9-abe5-cb8303306f131d742ffa-b6f3-42f2-b031-45e3de827031reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
