Resumo: Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a bioactive agent used in dentistry off-label. It has welldocumented remineralising and cariostatic properties, particularly with regard to primary teeth. Furthermore, SDF inhibits the proteolytic enzymes in dentine that degrade adhesive interfaces. Consequently, it has been incorporated into restorative protocols for carious lesions in both primary and permanent teeth. Despite recent systematic reviews investigating the effect of SDF on the bonding of restorative materials, the findings remain inconclusive. This may be due to methodological heterogeneity, particularly when combining data from primary and permanent teeth, as well as sound and caries-affected dentin. The present systematic review therefore aims to evaluate the influence of SDF on the bonding of adhesive systems to dentin, considering stratified analyses according to tooth type (primary versus permanent), substrate condition and etching strategy. A comprehensive search of in vitro studies assessing the bond strength of adhesive systems to dentin previously treated with SDF was conducted in PubMed, Scopus and ISI Web of Science up to March 2026. No restrictions were placed on language or publication date. Studies were excluded if they lacked a control group (without SDF application), included a control group with a different dentin condition to the intervention group or evaluated bond strength on eroded substrates, cavities or enamel. A total of 39 studies were included. The descriptive analysis involved extracting data on the country of the first author, tooth type, substrate condition, SDF commercial brand and concentration, adhesive system brand and bond strength test. The meta-analysis will be conducted using the inverse-variance method with random effects and a significance level of 5%. Heterogeneity (I²) among the groups will be assessed using the Cochran test (Q test). Review Manager software will be used for statistical analysis. The risk of bias was assessed using the QUIN Tool for dental laboratory studies, which includes twelve proposed criteria.
