The present study, linked to public policies for stimulation of Research, Development and Innovation (P,D& I), has as its theme the partnerships that can be established between companies and the Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM). Employing the Triple Helix theory, which emerged from the concepts developed by Sábato and Botana and perfected by Henry Etzkowitz and Loet Leydesdorff in the 1990s, the possible forms of interaction between Government Institutions of Science, Technology and Innovation (ICT) and private companies are presented. Together, the programs offered by the Government were investigated as a way of encouraging P, D & I, such as types and modes of development and financing. The general objective of the present work was to build a partnership guide between UFTM and companies, containing a portfolio of patents deposited by the university, which will be employed by the Patent Office (NIT/UFTM). A bibliographical and documentary study was performed, regarding University-Company partnerships by analyzing the current scenario of incentive for innovation in Brazil. This includes such items as the legal mechanisms, the pros and cons of the university-company partnership, as well as the programs for research financing in innovation and the bodies that promote research in Brazil. For the development of the guide, the research started with the purpose of establishing partnerships to promote the country's technological development. The guide will help the NIT/UFTM to present a portfolio of patents, which have been deposited by the UFTM, to companies that may establish a partnership for the commercialization of the products / processes developed by the institution's reseachers.
