This work‟s scope was to research the storytellers. It is known that the storytellers are part of human history since its beginning. And some of their traces can be found on the cave walls in as drawings in many parts of the world. The storytelling is related to the exchange of experiences, the preservation of memory, the educational and recreational activities. However, even with reports of the professional practice of some storytellers since the sixteenth century, with the passage of time, there were several social changes that apparently indicated that there would be a setback in this activity. Although, by performing a (re-) reading of this practice, some of the today storytellers have been finding in the storytelling a way of entertainment as well as a work field. They work in different public and private spaces. Concerning to the tax breaks for cultural practices, the government has shown by creating some laws that culture needs to be valued, not only for his unquestionable representative value of ways of living and relate in society, but also for its ability to generate wealth and produce income, in other words, for its socio-economic importance. Thus, it became interesting to conduct a reflection of how the Brazilian Constitutions, as it is at the top of the legal system, contemplated over time, the actions for Culture. However, it was needed to approach more closely the 1988 Constitution, as this is the Brazilian Constitution which is currently operating. In this research, we also highlight how culture, the storytellers themselves and their narratives were widespread in the cultural scenario of the city of Uberlândia. Showing thus some of its achievements, troubles and perspectives to act in a professional manner, with the art of telling a story.
