This thesis examines the work A cidade sitiada by Clarice Lispector, published in 1949. The production, performed in the time interval in which the author was in Bern, Switzerland, following diplomat husband, reveals important traits that would be featured in their great works of later publication. To perform an analysis on the various narrative elements and also a reflection on the poetry that permeates Clarice Lispector‟s texts, biographical research on the author was performed in addition to a brief overview of his literary production. To support the analysis, we used some theoretical works on the main elements that make up a literary analysis and further, we sought to substantiate the prospects raised by critical texts about the writer. Among the analyzes performed , thus we highlight the importance of the female character , the space as a representation of being and state of the soul , even if cloaked insight and symbolism present in all these elements , the relevant factor for the construction of poetic abundantly present in the work and analyzed in their literature production in general . Still reveals the importance of narrative construction together with intentionality that wants to emphasize, showing thus the recurring characteristics of texts by Clarice Lispector .
