Rural Brazil has been undergoing great transformations for some time. Agribusiness, the pivot of these changes in the sector, took on an important proportion and ended up covering vast areas. The State, with its public policies, has contributed to introducing crops such as sugarcane throughout the national territory, mainly in the flatter areas, such as in the states of the Southeast and Center-West. Where sugar cane has passed, we find different ways of staying farmers in place as peasants. They have developed strategies that have enabled them to endure the lack of public support. To these, we highlight skills to cope, adapt and react to the changes that are emerging. They have developed a sort of mechanism of absorption that allows them to react from what they can bring together in the family and community, thus extolling their resilient character in their ability to cope with changes and unforeseen events. In the study of the peasants of the São Jeronimo community, in the municipality of Limeira D'Oeste, we understand that the group's tenure is tense and has been generated from the involvement of families in the creation and re-creation of relationships mediated by mutuality, reciprocity and peasant sociability. Mutualism, in this sense, appears as a way of moving in space through a process of negotiation based on the social commitment agreed between them, allowing them a certain security in a world that does not convey this value. In order to develop a fine reading of that social group, we establish debates about resilience, way of life, mutuality, reciprocity, sociability, among others to understand peasant logics, considering their different social temporalities.
