Resumo: The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the United Nations Provisional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) held between 1992 and 1993. The objective is to understand the role of this mission in its time and execution space, according to its guidelines, and its long-term results against the historical structure drawn in this work. Criticism of this peace operation can be summarized in the argument that it was a passive agent within Cambodia, which ultimately only contributed to the historical developments presented. In this regard, the work analyzes UNTAC through Security Council resolutions, enabling it to reach information that the United Nations has been able to ascertain. In addition, it seeks to bring both this peace operation and Cambodia in the light of discussions in the field of international relations, as both are marginalized

O objetivo é compreender o papel dessa missão no seu tempo e espaço de execução, de acordo com as suas diretrizes, e os seus resultados a longo prazo perante a estrutura histórica cambojana. As críticas a essa operação de paz podem ser sintetizadas no argumento defendido de que ela foi um agente passivo dentro do Camboja, o qual, em última instância, apenas colaborou para os desdobramentos históricos apresentados. Nesse sentido, o trabalho analisa a UNTAC através das resoluções do Conselho de Segurança, permitindo alcançar informações que as Nações Unidas conseguiram apurar.
