Resumo: The problems related to pesticide application go beyond these recommendations. Studies in European countries and Brazil, indicate the operating conditions of sprayers as an indispensable factor in the quality of spraying. The objective of this study was to inspect boom and air assisted sprayers in the Alto Paranaíba-MG region in order to verify the quality of the workmanship, equipment condition and calibration. Were evaluated 60 sprayers, 30 boom sprayer and 30 air assisted sprayers. The process of evaluation was composite application of a questionnaire divided into three parts, with the maximum scores: workmanship (150), conditions of the equipment (300) and calibration (150). Thus, the spray operation in perfect condition reach a final note equals 600. In the workmanship, was evaluated for safety in applying, the knowledge necessary for the practice of spraying, knowledge and use of equipment for climate monitoring and care with the sprayer. In the equipment condition, was rated the condition of hoses, filters, storage tank, boom, fan, tachometer, manometer, nozzles, packing washer, water clean tank , protect mobile parts, uniform volumetric distribution, angle of the nozzles and noise level. In the calibration, was evaluated the rotation of power take-off, flow of spray solution, choice of nozzles and filters, the presence of more than nozzles models, work pressure, percentage of drift, air volume generated by the turbine and adoption procedures for monitoring climatic conditions. Was used discriminant analysis to determine which factor affects more on the final spraying. To determine the factor that most affect the percentage of drift, was used multiple linear regression. To determine the uniformity of the distribution volumetric air assisted sprayer after evaluation of the equipment, it is the volume of vegetation in crops, in order to correlate the volume with vegetation volume percentage of spray deposited on the plants. For this, was used the chi-square test, which analyzes the observed and expected frequency, where the frequency observed was considered the volume of vegetation and the expected volume percentage of solution deposited. To analyze the correlation of the rotation of the PTO to the volume of air generated by the turbine was used the Pearson s Correlation. The factor that contributes most to the final note was spray calibration. In the workmanship, the item that most interferes is the presence of equipment for climate evaluation. In the equipment condition, the item that was most influenced the noise level, followed by the mobile parts unprotected and leakages in hoses. In the calibration, the item that was most interfered monitoring of climatic conditions. The manometers showed up in better operating condition in boom hydraulic sprayers. In 70% of air assisted sprayers there uneven distribution volume. Half of sprayers does not apply the spray volume recommended.
