Resumo: | The present investigation describes the chemical analysis of essential oils from leaves of ten Australian Eucalyptus species and a hybrid, grown in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Leaves of species: Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden., E. camaldulensis Dehnh., E. tereticornis Sm., E. urophylla S. T. Blake, E. robusta Sm., E. paniculata Sm., E. saligna Sm., E. micrcorys F. Muell., E. cloeziana F. Muell., E. pilularis Sm. and the hybrid E. urophyla x E. grandis were collected in December 2009 from plants grown in the arboreto of Dendrology, Department of Forest Engineering, UFV and extracted by hydrodistillation for three hours in Clevenger type apparatus. The identification and quantification of essential oils constituents were carried out by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. E. camaldulensis (3.00%) e E. tereticornis (2.30%) gave the highest oil yield, followed by E. microcorys (1.70%), the hybrid E. urophylla x E. grandis (1.56%), E. saligna (1.42%), E. urophylla (0.77%), E. pilularis (0.73%) e E. paniculata (0.60%). The lowest yields were shown by E. robusta (0.34%), E. grandis (0.26) e E. cloeziana (0.13%). Hydrocarbon monoterpenes were predominant in E. saligna (95.7%), E. robusta (89.8%), E. grandis (89.0%), E. tereticornis (65.4%), E. pilularis (50.5%) and the hidrid E. Urophylla x E. grandis (56.4%). The species with higher content of oxygenated monoterpenes were E. microcoris (85.0%), E. urophylla (75.0%), E. camaldulensis (47.3%). Only E. cloeziana and E. paniculata presented high levels of oxygenated sesquiterpenes (41.4% and 41.2% respectively). The species that showed higher levels of 1.8-cineole were E. microcorys (66.2%), E. urophylla (65.4%) e E. camaldulensis (44.8%) and the hidrid E. urophylla x E. grandis (33.0%). The essential oil of E. grandis showed p-cimeno (59.6%) and γ-terpinene (29.2%) as major components. For E. tereticornis the major components corresponded to β-pinene (22.4%), 1,8-cineole (19.3%), α-pinene (13.6%), α-phellandrene (10.3%), γ-terpinene (8.4%) and p-cymene (8.1%). E. paniculata showed a high level of spathulenol (22.6%) and p-cymene (19.4%). The volatile oil of E. saligna showed 92.3% of α-pinene. E. robusta showed α-phellandrene (36.6%), α-pinene (16.6%), p-cymene (14.8%) and β-pinene (11.8%) as major components. E. cloeziana presented α-pinene (27.5%), β-eudesmol (11.3%), α-eudesmol (10.8%) and spathulenol (10.4%) as major compounds. The species E. pilularis presented as major components p-cymene (38.0%), an unidentified component (14%), with Kovats index 1738, and isoespatulenol (8.0%). Mass spectrometry data and Kovats index value suggest that the unidentified component can be a sesquiterpene ketone with a aromadendrene type skeleton, structurally similar to cyclocolorenone. It was possible to conclude that the species and the hybrid of Eucalyptus grown in Viçosa are promising sources for the commercial exploitation of bioactive terpenes. |

Apresentaram maior rendimento (m/m) as espécies E. camaldulensis (3,00%) e E. tereticornis (2,30%) seguidas de E. microcorys (1,70%), do híbrido E. urophylla x E. grandis (1,56%), E. saligna (1,42%), E. urophylla (0,77%), E. pilularis (0,73%) e E. paniculata (0,60%). E. cloeziana apresentou α- pineno (27,5%), β-eudesmol (11,3%), α-eudesmol (10,8%) e espatulenol (10,4%).
