No-till farming is a system in which the seed and fertilizer are placed directly into the soil with minimum tillage as possible. The operating speed and depth of seed deposition are factors that interfere with stand establishment and plant, often on crop productivity. Given the lack of research in relation to tillage of small seeds, aimed this work to evaluate the performance of a seeder no till establishment and yield of the Brachiaria brizantha in relation to different velocity and displacement seed deposition depths. The tests were conducted at the Instituto Federal de Santa Tereza (IFES), in Santa Teresa, ES, from September to December 2010. We used a 4x2 factorial in completely randomized design with four replications. Have combined four speeds (V1 = 2.0 km h -1, V2 = 4.0 km h-1, V3 = 6.0 km h-1 and V4 = 8.0 km h-1) and two depths of fertilizer deposition (P1 = P2 = 0.01 I 0.03 m). The machinery and implements used were a brand New Holland tractor, model IT 85 E 4x2, front wheel assist ( TDA) and a planter Semeato, model SHM/11. For the characterization of the experimental area, it was determined the chemical characteristics, the texture class and the physical and chemical characteristics of soil, and dry mass of vegetation. Evaluated to determine the force required on the draw bar, the force required for traction barrow, power required in the drawbar, power required in the drawbar by row, specific fuel consumption, fuel consumption per area worked, the drive wheels slip, depth of seed deposition, IVE, mean emergence time and material productivity. With increasing operating speed and depth of seed deposition there was an increase in tensile strength and tensile force per row, the depth factor seed deposition did not affect the power at the drawbar and power by plant line. The increase in operating speed decreased the specific fuel consumption and fuel consumption per area worked. The slip of the drive wheels of the tractor was increased when the drill has gone faster and so xiv adjusted to plant deeper. Was affected by depth of seeding on emergence speed index, but this influence did not affect dry matter yield.
