The places where the collections are kept are of fundamental importance for the preservation of the documentary and cultural patrimony of humanity, certificates of the history and culture of civilizations. And for that, it is necessary to have a well-prepared management with the capacity to plan and execute actions efficiently and effectively. This paper has as object of study the activities for preservation of the exhibition space of the Mineiro Writers Collection (AEM) and its funds in the Literary and Cultural Studies Center (CELC) of Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (FALE) of Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), focusing on improving the processes of organization of the collections of these writers. By using a single case study of a qualitative in nature, with data obtained from participant and non participant observation, the results achieved in the Multiple Regression routine developed by the author of this study, and from the documentary analysis, the proposal for a Handbook of Good Practices for Collections Management is presented, aiming at more positive and efficient results in the task of preserving the public heritage, focusing on the Mineiro writers collections.
