Resumo: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common oral malignant tumor, representing 95% of all oral cancers. It is frequent in adult male patients, localized on lower lip, tongue and floor of mouth. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral SCC at Laboratory of Oral Anatomy and Pathology of Federal University of Alfenas (UNIFAL-MG) comparing clinical and demographical characteristics of the patients with microscopical aspects of the neoplasia, based on histopathological malignancy grade evaluation. The other objective was to analyze the evolution of the Service of oral diagnosis (reports) along its 22 years of existence. It was developed a retrospective study of all oral malignant neoplasias diagnosed from 1998 to 2019, collecting demographical data from the records of all biopsies received by the Service. OSCC classification was based on El-Naggar et al. (2017) criteria and histopathological grade of malignancy criteria was the one proposed by Anneroth; Batsalis; Luna (1987) and modified by Bryne et al. (1989). A total of 270 patients was evaluated; the lesions were frequently observed in men (71.5%), Caucasian (61.5%), age varied between 24 and 94 years (mean age 59.7 years), and were more localized on floor of mouth and lateral board of the tongue. The most frequent clinical aspect observed was infiltrative ulcer. SCC was the most frequent diagnosis and occurred in 145 patients (41.9%). Microscopically most tumors showed high grade of keratinization, pleomorfism Grade 2, pattern of invasion in thick cords and intense peritumoral inflammatory infiltration. The predominant score of tumors ranged from 5 to 10 (72.2%). Moreover, along the years there was a significant increase in the number of SCC diagnosed cases and an expansion of the coverage area of our Service.

Acomete preferencialmente pacientes adultos, do gênero masculino e está localizado frequentemente em lábio inferior, língua e assoalho bucal. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a prevalência de carcinomas espinocelulares de boca diagnosticados no Laboratório de Anatomopatologia Bucal da Unifal-MG e comparar as características clínicas e demográficas dos pacientes com os aspectos microscópicos de cada neoplasia, baseando-se na graduação histopatológica de malignidade. Objetivou-se, também, analisar a evolução do serviço de emissão de laudos microscópicos ao longo dos seus 22 anos de existência. Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo de todas as neoplasias malignas bucais diagnosticadas e arquivadas no período de 1998 a 2019. Os dados demográficos foram coletados das fichas de biópsias enviadas pelos cirurgiões- dentistas e os diagnósticos dos laudos microscópicos emitidos pelo patologista responsável. A classificação dos carcinomas espinocelulares seguiu os critérios estabelecidos por El- Naggar et al. (2017) e a graduação histopatológica de malignidade baseou-se nos critérios propostos por Anneroth; Batsalis; Luna (1987) e modificados por Bryne et al. (1989). Dos 270 pacientes avaliados, as lesões acometeram preferencialmente pacientes do gênero masculino (71,5%), leucodermas (61,5%), numa faixa etária que variou de 24 a 94 anos, com uma média de 59,7 anos; e se localizavam com maior frequência em assoalho bucal e borda lateral de língua. O tipo de lesão mais frequente foi a úlcera infiltrativa. Carcinoma Espinocelular foi o diagnóstico mais frequente, observado em 145 pacientes (41,9%). A análise microscópica revelou que a maioria dos tumores apresentava acentuada queratinização, pleomorfismo Grau 2, padrão de invasão na forma de cordões grossos e infiltrado inflamatório peritumoral intenso. No somatório dos escores, houve um predomínino de tumores com valores entre 5 e 10 (72,2%). No período avaliado, houve um aumento no número de casos de CEC e uma expansão da área de cobertura do Serviço.Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Pós-Graduação - PIB-PÓSUniversidade Federal de Alfenas - UNIFAL-MGapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências OdontológicasUNIFAL-MGBrasilFaculdade de Odontologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Neoplasias bucaisCarcinoma de Células EscamosasBiópsiaCIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ODONTOLOGIAPrevalência de carcinomas espinocelulares de boca diagnosticados no laboratório de anatomopatologia bucal da Unifal - MG no período de 1998 a 2019info:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion4673435736271820140600600600600-207049846987924434981194215904247469717216834175123660550reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALMamani, Laura CruzLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
