Resumo: This experimental study evaluated the behavioral and neuronal effect of two Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids (AAS) administration, testosterone cypionate (Deposteron®) and stanozolol (Winstrol Depot®), which are indistinguishably used by gym customers in hyperphysiologic doses. Usingallometric extrapolation, intraperitoneal (IP) daily doses of 0.8mg/kgDeposteron® and 1.8mg/kg Winstrol Depot® were administered to male and female Swiss mice, in comparison to a control group treated with daily 0.04ml saline solution. All animals were submitted to swimming exercise during experiment time in order to simulate physical activity. By means of estimated profile analyses of neuron cell bodies density, results showed statistically significant decrease of neuron cell bodies number in lateral hypothalamus area of both male and female animalsaswell as in central amygdaloid area of female ones after AAS administration. The outcomes indicated that these two AAS can generate neuronal damage and impaired functions in these brain structures. Aggressive behavioral tests analyses were performed by resident-intruder paradigm and proved to be no statistically significant. Nevertheless, all resident-treated animals displayed an aggressive behavior; in contrast to a dominant attitude of resident animals, intruder ones presented themselves with a compliant and neutral attitude. For all that, we believe this study to be scientificallyimportant due to the scarcity of quantitative morphologic researches concerning AAS and it alsoshows that AAS abuse lead to neuronal loss and consequent activity impairment. In our opinion, further studies are necessary because of controversies about AAS use and aggressive behavior relationship.

For all that, we believe this study to be scientificallyimportant due to the scarcity of quantitative morphologic researches concerning AAS and it alsoshows that AAS abuse lead to neuronal loss and consequent activity impairment. In our opinion, further studies are necessary because of controversies about AAS use and aggressive behavior relationship.Este estudo experimental avaliou o efeito neuronal e comportamental da administração de dois esteroides anabolizantes androgênicos (EAA), Deposteron® (Cipionato de Testosterona) e Winstrol Depot® (Stanozolol), utilizados indiscriminadamente em academias em doses supra-fisiológicas. Através de extrapolação alométrica, doses foram administradas por via intraperitoneal (IP), 0,8mg/kg/dia de Deposteron® e 1,8mg/kg/dia de Winstrol Depot®, em camundongos machos e fêmeas da linhagem Swiss, estes foram comparados com animais controle tratados com solução salina (0,04mL). Os animais foram submetidos à natação durante o período do experimento, simulando uma possível atividade física. Através da análise de estimativa da densidade dos perfis de corpos celulares de neurônios, este estudo mostrou-se estatisticamente significativo, quanto à redução do número de corpos celulares neuronais, no hipotálamo lateral de machos e fêmeas, e na amígdala central de fêmeas, após administração de EAA, indicativo de que esses dois EAA podem gerar danos neuronais, prejudicando funções desempenhadas por estas estruturas cerebrais. As análises de comportamento agressivo foram realizadas pelo paradigma residente-intruso e não se mostraram estatisticamente significativas, entretanto todos os animais residentes tratados mostraram comportamento agressivo, além de uma postura submissa e neutra dos animais intrusos, em contrapartida, a uma postura dominante dos animais residentes. Contudo, este estudo apresenta grande relevância científica, devido à falta de estudos morfológicos quantitativos acerca dos EAA, mostrando que a uso abusivo de EAA levam a perda neuronal, e consequente perda de atividade, entretanto, mais estudos se fazem necessários, devido às controvérsias quanto à relação entre o uso de EAA e comportamento agressivo.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Biociências Aplicada à SaúdeUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciências Biomédicasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Esteroides anabólicosNeurôniosTonsila do CerebeloHipotálamoAnimais - Comportamento agressivoCIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::MORFOLOGIAEstimativa da densidade dos perfis de corpos celulares de neurônios na amígdala central e hipotálamo lateral e avaliação comportamental de camundongos sob o uso de esteroides anabolizantesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion11968508487375290116006006215110722916668707reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALPassos, Juliane De LimaLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
