Resumo: The American Continent is in an extensive industrial and economic development, especially the strengthening of South American countries. Brazil, for example, currently occupies the sixth place in the world economy, in addition of being the tenth country in the world in industrial production, even in the same continent of The United States, which has the largest world economy and increased industrial production. Much of this economic and industrial development often brings up a serious problem that is the emission of pollutants from industry, considering that Brazil emits about 2.7 million tons of dangerous industrial waste, according to data from the Environmental Guide Brazil-Germany. Thus, this study has as its main aim to check which economic, environmental and cultural factors that influence on ISO 14001 certification in the American Continent. Thus, initially presented the characteristics of the ISO 14001 certificate emissions in continents and in major countries that issued the standard. Sooner, tests were done to check which economic, environmental and cultural factors that influence the amount of ISO 14001 certificates issued in the American Continent by multiple regression models adjustment. The data were collected in the ISO Survey, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme and International Energy Agency. The R software was used as a tool for adjusting the multiple regression models. Among the countries of that continent, 13 were analyzed and only two did not show the economic factors as the influence factor in the multiple regression models adjusted with Brazil and the USA. In these models, all presented environmental factors as influencing factors. Only in Brazil the index HDI presented as cultural factor in multiple regression model adjusted. The economic factors: Gross Domestic Product and exports of goods and services and environmental: Carbon Doxide (CO2) and fossil fuel consumption were the most influential in ISO 14001 certification. Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia and the United States were countries that had factors dependent on each other, featuring the environmental marketing. Briefly, this study brings up several implications: to the gym, new concepts and guidance on the factors that assist in ISO 14001 certification in the American Continent, for the industry and the factors serve as efficiency parameters for the implementation of ISO 14001 standard, and for the Government to improve through factors that do not fit in multiple regression models.

O Brasil, por exemplo, ocupa atualmente, o sexto lugar na economia mundial, além de ser o décimo país do mundo em produção industrial. Ainda no mesmo continente há os Estados Unidos que têm a maior economia mundial e a maior produção industrial. Esse desenvolvimento econômico e industrial, muitas vezes, não traz à tona um problema grave que é a emissão de poluentes provenientes da indústria. O Brasil, por exemplo, emite cerca de 2,7 milhões de toneladas de resíduos industriais perigosos, segundo dados do guia Ambiental Brasil-Alemanha. Assim, essa dissertação tem como objetivo principal verificar quais fatores econômicos, ambientais e sócio-culturais que influenciam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001 no Continente Americano. Para tanto, inicialmente analisou as emissões de certificados ISO 14001 nos continentes e nos maiores países que emitiram a norma. Em seguida, foram ajustados os modelos para verificar quais fatores econômicos, sócio-culturais e ambientais influenciam a emissão de certificados da norma ISO14001, no continente americano. Os dados foram coletados na ISO Survey, World Bank, Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento e International Energy Agency. O software "R" foi utilizado como ferramenta para a realização dos modelos de regressão múltipla ajustados. Dentre os países desse continente, treze (13) foram analisados e seis (6) modelos de regressão múltipla foram ajustado por meio de clusters. Os Cluster 1, 2, 3 e 4, respectivos dos países, EUA, Brasil, Canadá e Colômbia fatores econômicos e ambientais influenciam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001. No Cluster 5 em que o agrupamento é para a Argentina, Chile e México fatores econômicos e sócio-culturais influenciam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001. E o Cluster 6 para os países Costa Rica, Equador, Peru, Bolívia, Uruguai e Venezuela apenas o fator econômico influencia na emissão de certificados ISO 14001. No Cluster 4 para a Colômbia uma medida governamental e do banco de desenvolvimento interamericano culminou em uma grande quantidade de emissão de certificados por empresas de pequeno e de médio porte. Apenas no Canadá e EUA o fator CO2 influencia na emissão de certificados ISO 14001. Os países que fatores econômicos influenciam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001 são devido ao marketing ambiental na procura de outros mercados. E apenas a Colômbia os fatores econômicos não influenciam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001. China foi o país que mais emite certificação ISO 14001 no mundo. E EUA, Brasil e Colômbia são os únicos países americanos que estão classificados entre os 20 primeiros países que emitiram a norma ISO 14001 em 2013. Este trabalho traz à tona várias implicações: para a academia, novos conceitos e diretrizes sobre os fatores que auxiliam na emissão de certificados ISO 14001 no Continente Americano. Para a indústria, os fatores podem servir de parâmetros de eficiência para a implantação ou não da Norma ISO 14001 e para o setor governamental como auxílio na melhora ambiental por meio dos fatores que não influenciaram na emissão de certificados ISO 14001.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ecologia e Tecnologia AmbientalUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciências Exatasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Gestão ambiental - AméricaAnálise de regressãoControle da Contaminação AmbientalENGENHARIASAnálise do sistema de gestão ambiental baseado na norma ISO 14001 no continente americanoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-81563116783631435996006004518971056484826825reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALNeves, Fábio De OliveiraLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
