Resumo: Parabens preservatives are widely used in the cosmetic, pharmaceuticals and food industry as additives. They have a long history of use since they are economically very advantageous and it is thought that they are relatively nontoxic to humans. However, recent studies indicate that parabens may have estrogenic activity. Lipstick is a cosmetic widely used by women and the components of it can be absorbed by both the oral mucosa, as the digestive tract. The Cosmetotoxicology is a new specialty within the Toxicology, which came about thanks to the demands of the productive and the regulatory sector, and aims to obtain and release of safe and standardized products to the public. In this context, there is a growing demand for the development of analytical methods to quantify parabens in cosmetics with reliably for inspection and quality control. Furthermore, since the kinetic data of these substances are not known, is also necessary to develop methods to quantify these analytes in biological matrices. Thus this paper proposes, for the first time a correlation between the use of lipstick and the amount of parabens in women who make use of this cosmetic. Methodologies of parabens analysis both in lipstick and in blood were developed and validated following validation protocols and the results were satisfactory for all parameters such as selectivity, detectability, linearity, precision and accuracy. Samples of 18 volunteers were analyzed in three stages, which in one of these stages, they made use of lipstick with parabens in a known concentration. After statistical processing of data, using a non-parametric tests, it was concluded that there is absorption of parabens through the use of lipstick, as was demonstrated statistically significant difference (p <0.05, the Friedman test) between the concentrations of parabens in the serum of women who used lipstick containing these substances, in relation to the non-use of cosmetic lip and was demonstrated strong correlation (Spearman coefficient r = 0.7205) between the used amount of lipstick and the concentration of parabens in serum.

Têm uma longa história de utilização, uma vez que são economicamente muito rentáveis e pensa-se que são relativamente atóxicos para o homem. No entanto, recentes estudos apontam que os parabenos podem ter atividade estrogênica. O batom é um cosmético amplamente utilizado pelas mulheres e os componentes dele podem ser absorvidos tanto pela mucosa oral, quanto pelo trato digestório. A Cosmetotoxicologia é uma nova especialidade, dentro da Toxicologia, que surgiu graças às demandas do setor produtivo e do regulatório, e visa contribuir para a obtenção e/ou liberação para a população de produtos seguros e normatizados. Nesse contexto, é crescente a demanda para o desenvolvimento de métodos analíticos capazes de quantificar os parabenos nos cosméticos com confiabilidade, para fins de fiscalização e controle de qualidade. Além disso, como não são conhecidos os dados cinéticos dessas substâncias, faz-se necessário também desenvolver métodos para quantificar esses analitos em matrizes biológicas. Desse modo esse trabalho propõe, pela primeira vez, estudar a correlação entre o uso do batom e a concentração de parabenos no soro de mulheres que fazem uso desse cosmético labial. As metodologias de análise de parabenos tanto em batom quanto em sangue foram desenvolvidas e validadas seguindo protocolos de validação e os resultados foram satisfatórios para todos os parâmetros avaliados, tais como seletividade, detectabilidade, linearidade, precisão e exatidão. Foram analisadas amostras de 18 voluntárias em 3 fases, nas quais, em uma delas, as mulheres usaram batom contendo uma concentração conhecida de parabenos. Após tratamento estatístico dos dados, com aplicação de testes não-paramétricos, foi possível concluir que há absorção de parabenos por meio do uso de batom, uma vez que foi demonstrada diferença estatisticamente significativa (p < 0,05, no teste de Friedman) entre as concentrações de parabenos no soro de mulheres que utilizaram batom, contendo essas substâncias, em relação ao não uso do cosmético labial, e foi demonstrada forte correlação (coeficiente de Spearman com r= 0,7205) entre a quantidade usada desse batom e a concentração de parabenos no soro.Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências FarmacêuticasUNIFAL-MGBrasilFaculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ParabenosToxicologiaAditivos em CosméticosFARMACIA::ANALISE TOXICOLOGICACorrelação entre o uso de batom e a concentração de parabenos em mulheres expostas ao cosméticoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-6425845155986244297600600600-742516873750689813-2555911436985713659reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALTahan, Gabriella PadovaniLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
