Resumo: | Photocatalysis is a promising alternative to decontamination of wastewater containing dyes. However, efforts are necessary in direction of catalyst immobilization that allow its removal from the media and reuse. ZnO based photocatalysts were obtained by pressing (by applying different pressures) and slip casting (by using different deflocculant concentration), with heat treatment at 800 °C. The obtained samples were characterized by apparent porosity, apparent density, x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The physical and structural properties of the samples are directly correlated with the conformation method. The samples photocatalytic performance were attested by the photocalytic degradation of 5 to 50 mg/L Rhodamine B (RB) solution under UVC radiation. The samples obtained by slip casting showed reaction rate constant between 1,68x10-2 min-1 and 1,87x10-2 min-1, while the pressed samples showed reaction rate constant between 9,9x10-3 min-1 and 1,16x10-2 min-1. Thus, the samples obtained by slip casting showed better photocatalytic performance in relation to the pressed samples, which can be justified by the difference of apparent porosity between them. By means of undergoing multiple degradation cycles it could be verified that the samples obtained by slip casting show stability in regards of photocatalytic performance, while the pressed samples had a performance decrease after the third cycle. By varying the dye concentration, it was observed that the produced samples showed loss in discoloration efficiency with initial dye concentration increase, although the amount of degraded dye increased with initial dye concentration increase until the optimal concentration of 40 mg/L for pressed samples and 30 mg/L for samples obtained by slip casting. |

No entanto, são necessários esforços no sentido da imobilização dos catalisadores que permita a sua retirada do meio e reutilização. Fotocatalisadores a base de ZnO imobilizados foram obtidos pelos métodos de prensagem (variando-se a pressão de compactação) e por colagem de barbotina (variando-se a concentração de defloculante), com tratamento térmico a 800 °C. As amostras obtidas foram caracterizadas por porosidade aparente, densidade aparente, difração de raios X (DRX), análise termogravimétrica (TGA), espectroscopia no infravermelho com transformada de Fourier (FTIR) e microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). As propriedades físicas e estruturais das peças estão diretamente correlacionadas com o método de conformação. Os desempenhos fotocatalíticos das amostras foram atestados pela degradação de soluções de 5 a 50 mg/L de Rodamina B (RB) sob radiação UVC. As amostras obtidas por colagem apresentaram constante de velocidade de reação entre 1,68x10-2 min-1 e 1,87x10-2 min-1, enquanto as amostras prensadas apresentaram constantes de velocidade entre 9,9x10-3 min-1 e 1,16x10-2 min-1. Assim, as amostras obtidas por colagem apresentaram melhor desempenho fotocatalítico em relação às amostras prensadas, o que pode ser justificado pela diferença de porosidade aparente entre elas. Por meio da realização de múltiplos ciclos de degradação fotocatalítica pôde-se verificar que as amostras obtidas por colagem apresentaram estabilidade de desempenho fotocatalítico, enquanto as amostras prensadas demonstraram perda de eficiência fotocatalítica a partir do terceiro ciclo. Ao variar a concentração do corante, verificou-se que a quantidade de corante degradada aumentou com o aumento da concentração inicial de corante até a concentração ótima de 40 mg/L para as amostras prensadas e 30 mg/L para as amostras obtidas por colagem de barbotina.application/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciência e Engenharia de MateriaisUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciência e Tecnologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Óxido de zinco.Rodamina B.Fotocatálise.MATERIAIS NAO METALICOS::CERAMICOSObtenção de ZnO na forma de peças para aplicação em fotocatáliseObtaining ZnO in form of pieces for application in photocatalysisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-42974172594986389316006004833842504434367204reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALPeçanha, Luiz Otavio OttonicarLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
