Resumo: Introduction: Pelvic floor muscles (PFM) require detailed clinical evaluation with reliable tools. Surface electromyography (EMGs) is one of the established methods to assess the PFM function, but it has different protocols for evaluating and analyzing data. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the intrarater and interrater reliability of the determination by visual inspection of the EMG signal during maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) of female PFM. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study with secondary data, previously collected. Records of 3 PFM MVC that had 5 seconds (s) each, separated by 60s intervals, were analyzed. Two independent raters visually determined the onset and offset of each MVC. The agreement between raters on the quality of the signals was analyzed both qualitatively (visual inspection) and quantitatively (signal-to-noise ratio, SNR). The intrarater and interrater reliability was measured taking into account the values of the integral (time domain) and median frequency (frequency domain) of the MVC was analyzed using intraclass correlation coefficient models (ICC 2,1 , ICC 2,3 ) and repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: Data from 58 women (mean age of 54.68 years) were analyzed. Of the total, 22 (37.9%) were considered of high quality by both raters and the SNR ranged 34.3–22.2 decibels (dB). The agreement of qualitative visual evaluation of the sEMG signal was fair (Cohen’s κ=0.306 [0.148; 0.463]). Intrarater and interrater reliability were excellent for the average of the three MVC, both for integral (ICC 2,3 =0.884 [0.821; 0.925]; ω 2 =-0.006, p=0.558) and MDF (ICC 2,3 =0.998 [0.998; 0.999]; ω 2 =-0.009, p=0.992). Conclusion: To date, this is the first study to evaluate intrarater and interrater reliability by identifying the PFM contraction through visual inspection in an sEMG software commonly used in the clinical practice of physiotherapists specialized in pelvic floor dysfunction. Qualitative visual analysis of the sEMG signal presents fair interrater agreement and reflects the SNR. Visual determination of the onset and offset of the MVC of PFM using the standard interface of the sEMG software has excellent reliability for determination of muscle activation variables.

A eletromiografia de superfície (EMGs) é um dos métodos estabelecidos para avaliar a função dos MAPs, porém apresenta diferentes protocolos de avaliação e análise de dados. Sendo assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo investigar a confiabilidade intra- avaliador e interavaliador da determinação por inspeção visual do sinal EMGs durante a contração voluntária máxima (CVM) dos MAPs feminino. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional transversal com dados secundários, coletados previamente. Foram analisados os registros de 3 CVM dos MAPs que tinham 5 segundos (s) cada, separadas por intervalos de 60s. Dois avaliadores independentes determinaram visualmente o início e fim de cada CVM. A concordância entre avaliadores sobre a qualidade dos sinais foi analisada por inspeção visual - análise qualitativa (Coeficiente Kappa de Cohen’s - k) e quantitativa (relação sinal-ruído - SNR). A confiabilidade intra- avaliador e interavaliador foi medida levando em consideração os valores da integral (domínio tempo) e frequência mediana (domínio frequência) da CVM e foi analisada por meio do coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (ICC 2,1 , ICC 2,3 ) e análise de variância com medidas repetidas. Resultados: Foram analisados os dados de 58 mulheres (idade média de 54.68 anos). A concordância da análise visual qualitativa do sinal de EMGs foi razoável (Cohen K=0.306 [0.148; 0.463]) e a SNR variou de 34.3 - 22.2 dB entre os avaliadores. A confiabilidade intra- avaliador e interavaliador foi excelente para a média das três CVM tanto da integral (ICC 2,3 = 0.884 [0.821; 0.925]; ω 2 = -0.006, p = 0.558) quanto da frequência mediana (ICC 2,3 = 0.998 [0.998; 0.999]; ω 2 = -0.009, p = 0.992). Conclusão: Até o momento, este é o primeiro estudo que avaliou a confiabilidade intra e interavaliador ao identificar a contração dos MAPs por meio da inspeção visual em um software de EMGs comumente utilizado na prática clínica de fisioterapeutas especializados em disfunção do assoalho pélvico. A análise visual qualitativa do sinal de EMGs não é recomendada por apresentar concordância razoável entre avaliadores embora reflita a SNR. Recomenda-se a utilização da determinação visual do início e fim da CVM dos MAPs utilizando a interface padrão do software de EMGs pela excelente confiabilidade.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-graduação em Ciências da ReabilitaçãoUNIFAL-MGBrasilInstituto de Ciências Biomédicasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/EletromiografiaDiafragma da PelveContração MuscularReabilitaçãoCIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FISIOTERAPIA E TERAPIA OCUPACIONALConfiabilidade intra e interavaliador da análise eletromiográfica dos músculos do assoalho pélvico: estudo observacional transversalinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion1196850848737529011600600600-45637016600310387892075167498588264571reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALVolpato, Maria PalhariniLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
