Resumo: The production of sediments in water courses occurs naturally, however, human activity can intensify this process and generate negative impacts on the environment. Urbanization, for example, increases runoff due to the removal of vegetation cover and the waterproofing of soil in the watershed, and consequently erosion and sediment transport. The greater sediment input in the basin can cause an increase in the incidence of floods due to the silting up of reservoirs and rivers; reduction of water quality and damage to biodiversity. In order to prevent and control these impacts, it is important that quantitative studies are carried out of the sediments transported in the hydrographic basins, therefore, the present work aims to study the variation of the concentration of suspended solids (Css) in the surface runoff in an urban environment. It was observed that the characteristics of the seasons have an influence on the behavior of Css curves, that the formula proposed in the study allows to obtain satisfactory results on the relationship between precipitation data and Css data and that the phenomenon of Mass First flush occurred in all the events studied. The results indicate that the formula proposed in the study can bring important information about changes in solid discharge according to the behavior of precipitation events., It allowed, through precipitation data, to estimate the future behavior of the Css curve along the time, the methods studied in the bibliography did not allow obtaining this information in advance.

A urbanização, por exemplo, aumenta o escoamento superficial, devido a remoção da cobertura vegetal e a impermeabilização do solo da bacia hidrográfica, e consequentemente a erosão e o transporte de sedimentos. O maior aporte de sedimentos na bacia pode causar o aumento da incidência de cheias e alagamentos devido ao assoreamento de reservatórios e rios; redução da qualidade da água e prejuízo da biodiversidade. Para prevenir e controlar esses impactos é importante que sejam realizados estudos quantitativos dos sedimentos transportados nas bacias hidrográficas, por isso, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a variação da concentração de sólidos em suspensão (Css) no escoamento superficial em um ambiente urbano. Foi observado que as características das estações do ano têm influência no comportamento das curvas de Css, que a fórmula proposta no estudo permite obter resultados satisfatórios sobre a relação entre os dados de precipitação e os dados de Css e que ocorreu o fenômeno de Mass First flush em todos os eventos estudados.
