Resumo: | There are several types of root canal filling materials for primary teeth, such as zinc oxide and eugenol, iodoform paste and calcium hydroxide base paste and associations. It is necessary to determine which ones have the best physico-chemical and biological properties. This randomized, double-blind clinical study aimed to evaluate the performance of two filling materials after biopulpectomy in primary teeth. 43 biopulpectomies were performed on lower deciduous molars of children aged between 4 and 11 years. The teeth were selected and randomly distributed into two groups: Group I - Calen® (Calcium Hydroxide Paste and Polietileneglycol – PEG 400) thickened with zinc oxide and Group II - Feapex® (Calcium Hydroxide Paste and iodoform). Biopulpectomies were performed and teeth restored in a single session. Clinical success was considered as teeth with no pain, abscess / fistula, sensitivity to percussion and mobility. Radiographically considered successful, teeth with no periapical lesion / radiolucent interradicular area, integrity of the periodontal ligament, and adequate root canal filling. In addition, the conditions of the restorations were evaluated according to the modified USPHS criteria. Clinical and radiographic results were collected in the immediate postoperative period, at three, six and nine months after treatment. The percentage of clinical success was 100% and radiographic 78,9% for GI and 81,0% for GII. The distal roots, both in GI and GII, presented a high success rate in fillings. The restorations showed satisfactory clinical behavior (Alpha and Bravo score´s), in 72,5% of the cases, only 27,5% of the sample showed failures in the restorations, without secondary caries. It is concluded that biopulpectomies in primary teeth performed with both the Calen® paste thickened with zinc oxide and the Feapex® paste obtained a good clinical performance. |

Assim, é necessário determinar quais possuem as melhores propriedades físico-químicas e biológicas. Este estudo clínico randomizado e duplo-cego teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho de dois materiais obturadores à base de hidróxido de cálcio após biopulpectomia em dentes decíduos. Foram realizadas 43 biopulpectomias em molares decíduos inferiores de crianças com idade entre 4 e 11 anos. Os dentes foram selecionados e distribuídos de forma aleatória em dois grupos: Grupo I – Calen® (Pasta de Hidróxido de Cálcio e Polietilenoglicol - PEG 400) espessado com óxido de zinco (n=21) e Grupo II - Feapex® (Pasta de Hidróxido de Cálcio e iodofórmio) (n= 22). As biopulpectomias e as restaurações foram realizadas em sessão única. Foram considerados sucesso clínico, dentes com ausência de dor, de abscesso/fístula, de sensibilidade à percussão de mobilidade. Radiograficamente foram considerados sucesso, dentes com ausência de lesão periapical/área inter-radicular radiolúcida, integridade do ligamento periodontal, e obturação adequada dos canais radiculares. Além disso, foram avaliadas as condições das restaurações seguindo os critérios do USPHS modificado. Os resultados clínicos e radiográficos foram coletados no pós-operatório imediato, aos três, seis e nove meses após o tratamento. A porcentagem de sucesso clínico foi de 100% e radiográfico 78,9% para o GI e 81,0% para o GII. As raízes distais, tanto no GI como no GII apresentaram alta taxa de sucesso nas obturações. As restaurações apresentaram comportamento clínico satisfatório (escore Alfa e Bravo), em 72,5% dos casos, sendo que apenas 27,5% da amostra apresentaram falhas nas restaurações, porém sem ocorrência de cárie secundária. Conclui-se que biopulpectomias em dentes decíduos realizadas tanto com a pasta Calen® espessada com óxido de zinco como com pasta Feapex® obtiveram um bom desempenho clínico.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal de AlfenasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências OdontológicasUNIFAL-MGBrasilFaculdade de Odontologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Dente decíduoPulpectomiaObturação do canal radicularODONTOLOGIA::ODONTOPEDIATRIADesempenho de dois materiais obturadores em biopulpectomias de molares decíduos: estudo clínico randomizado duplo-cegoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion4673435736271820140600600600-83099393215106086562075167498588264571reponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal de Alfenas - RiUnifalinstname:Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL)instacron:UNIFALCaldeira, Amanda ValentimLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
