Resumo: Research carried out in the city of Foz do Iguaçu-PR, whose objective was to understand the mental illness of nursing workers working in the Basic Health Units (UBS) of this border municipality, verifying the occurrence of mental and behavioral disorders among these workers. In addition, we sought to understand how the border territory contributes to the conditions of mental illness of these workers. For this, it was necessary to understand the perceptions that nursing workers working in the UBS of the municipality have about their mental illness in the relationship between the territory, work, and the context of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). This is a quantitative/qualitative, descriptive-exploratory study, developed in two stages, analyzed from the theoretical framework of Dialectical Historical Materialism and Activity Clinic. A quantitative survey was carried out to obtain information regarding the total number of absences from work due to mental and behavioral disorders of nursing workers in the years 2018-2021 and a semi-structured interview was carried out, in which 10 workers from the nursing team participated. As a result of the quantitative data, the epidemiological characteristics of nursing workers on leave due to mental and behavioral disorders are mostly women, aged 42.7 years. The ages of the evaluated group were between 26 and 62 years. The mental disorder that has been affecting the mental health of nurses and nursing assistants is Anxious Phobic Disorder, classified in the ICD-10 as F40. As for the function, the data obtained informed that auxiliary workers are staying away from work for a longer period of time than nurses. The results of the qualitative data showed that , the time of absence from work is from seven to 120 days of absence due to the diagnosis of Depression and Panic Syndrome self-reported by them. All corresponded to the number of effective public tenders in the border municipality. With the union of the data acquired by the semi-structured interviews, based on how the workers understand and perceive the work of nursing in primary care in a border municipality, related to their mental illness, territory, and the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be nine categories of analysis were constructed. The characteristics that stood out the most for the construction of the categories were feelings of insecurity, anguish, fear, demotivation, lack of recognition and devaluation, overload, exhaustion, helplessness, pressure, anger, uselessness, among others, and the working conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic may have worsened the mental health of these workers. Therefore, it can be understood that nursing work in a border municipality contributes to the mental illness of nursing staff workers due to the way in which nursing work in a border region is organized and the conditions under which it is carried out, which is refer to excess demands, insufficient number of workers, low wages, lack of transparency in the public health service, influence of changes in municipal management, transfer of information in a hierarchical manner, among others.

Submitted by Katia Abreu (katia.abreu@unioeste.br) on 2022-05-11T12:18:12Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Mirian_Caroline_Pereira_2022.pdf: 2089885 bytes, checksum: 5a3525a73325e9ecc88e9b375ec5e008 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-05-11T12:18:12Z (GMT). description Research carried out in the city of Foz do Iguaçu-PR, whose objective was to understand the mental illness of nursing workers working in the Basic Health Units (UBS) of this border municipality, verifying the occurrence of mental and behavioral disorders among these workers.
