The scope of this thesis was to size and analyze the tourism economic chain of Foz do Iguaçu (PR), through the structure of Tourism Characteristics Activities (TCA s) and, from the elaboration of an input-output matrix, point out the gains of analytical capacity and representation of the importance of the sector for local growth. Foz do Iguaçu, located in western Paraná, because of a confluence of factors, is seen as a regional economic, logistical, and tourism hub. Given this panorama, we analyzed and presented the viability of use and the added value provided by the adoption of the ACTs structure and the elaboration of the input-output matrix, in the sizing of the tourism economy of Foz do Iguaçu (PR), in order to guide strategies and public and private policies. Therefore, an input-output matrix was developed in order to economically size the tourism production chain in Foz do Iguaçu, based on operational data of tourism demand in the city, its international and domestic characterization, and the labor market from the perspective of ACTs. The results of this matrix allow extending the analysis of the relationship between the various indicators of demand x labor market and their dynamics and statistical trends to approaches of impact and importance in the sectors in the reference economy. The application of this very challenging set of approaches and studies allowed the construction and presentation of new analysis scenarios related to the dimensioning of the tourism economy in a sub-national region, in this case, the municipality of Foz do Iguaçu (PR). With this thesis, we aimed to contribute to the understanding of the importance of the economic vision in the analysis of tourism, especially from systematized methodologies and tools that not only allow the dimensioning of the economy, but also to prospect economic scenarios, social impacts, and support the development of public and private policies and strategies.
