Resumo: This research aims to demonstrate what would be the economic gain from the application of the IPTU Progressivo no Tempo for the municipality of Cascavel / PR. We sought to identify the causes and / or consequences of the urban voids observed from the three spheres of sustainability: social, environmental and economic. This reasoning formed the theoretical basis for the analyzes carried out based on a qualitative and quantitative methodology, in which there was a significant increase in the collection of IPTU when the urban instrument in question was applied, provided for in the City Statute and integrated into the Municipal Master Plan, understood as a promoter of the social function of property.
