Resumo: This study has the objective of analyze the localization profile of metal mechanic activity branch of Paraná West Region. For this it will be used the Locacional Quotient, the job multiplier and the geographic association coefficient from RAIS data. So the basic activities will be identified, the jobs generated by them and its associations with the transformation industry branches focusing the metal mechanic branch. By the analyses it was evidenced that the metal mechanic branch kept its locacional profile almost equal in the analyzed years, it lost specialization in some cities and it is one of the branches that more create jobs, and as well as the transformation industry as a whole expanded its ranks of formal jobs from 2000 to 2008. The branch is more concentraded mainly in Cascavel, Marechal Cândido Rondon, Assis Chateubriand, Foz do Iguaçu and neighborhoods. The branch was associated with all the branches, but only significant associated with the edition, impression, and reproduction of writings branch and other industrial branches. It had a light reduction in the intensity of the associations of the metal mechanic branch with the majority of the other branches.

Para isto serão utilizados o Quociente Locacional, o Multiplicador de Emprego e o Coeficiente de Associação Geográfica a partir de dados da RAIS. Assim, serão identificadas as atividades básicas, os empregos gerados por elas e suas associações com os ramos da indústria de transformação enfocando o ramo metal-mecânico. Por meio das análises constatou-se que o ramo metal-mecânico manteve seu perfil locacional praticamente igual nos anos analisados, perdeu especialização em alguns municípios e é um dos ramos que mais emprega, e assim como a indústria de transformação como um todo expandiu seus postos de empregos formais de 2000 a 2008. O ramo encontra-se mais concentrado principalmente em Cascavel, Marechal Cândido Rondon, Assis Chateubriand, Foz do Iguaçu e entorno. O ramo esteve associado com todos os ramos, mas somente associado de maneira significativa com o ramo de edição, impressão, e reprodução de gravações e outros ramos industriais.
