Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance, carcass characteristics, haematological and biochemical parameters, chemical composition and water quality in the creation of pacu in cages in the reservoir of Itaipu Binational fed diets containing different levels of phosphorus total. Were 3000 fish used with initial average length of 17.85 ± 0.57 cm and average weight of 115.23 ± 11.61 g distributed in a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replicates in 20 tanks, and the experimental unit consists of a tank with 150 fish. The treatments consisted of five foods prepared in order to contain phosphorus levels of 0.60, 0.75, 0.90, 1.05 and 1.20% by supplementation of dicalcium phosphate and given three times daily at 9:00 am, 14:00 and 17:00 until satiation. Levels of 0.60, 0.75, 0.90, 1.05 and 1.20% of total phosphorus in the diet can be used to feed pacus raised in cages without any commitment. You can recommend the use of commercially 0.60% of total phosphorus in the diet of pacu providing good growth performance and especially reducing the pollution effect of the diets

Foram utilizados 3000 peixes com comprimento médio inicial de 17,85 ± 0,57 cm e peso inicial médio de 115,23 ± 11,61 g distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado com cinco tratamentos e quatro repetições em 20 tanques-rede, sendo a unidade experimental composta por um tanque com 150 peixes. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por cinco rações elaboradas de modo a conterem níveis de fósforo total de 0,60; 0,75; 0,90; 1,05 e 1,20% através da suplementação de fosfato bicálcico e fornecidas três vezes ao dia às 9h00, 14h00 e 17h00 até a saciedade aparente. Os níveis de 0,60 a 1,20% de fósforo total na ração podem ser utilizados na alimentação de pacus criados em tanques-rede sem que haja comprometimento do desempenho dos animais.
