Resumo: This work analyzes the political-religious action and possible interests of Bernardo de Claraval in relation to the Order of the Templars in the 12th century, within the context of the cross-Christian movement. We analyzed the sources Regula Commilitonum Christi and De Laude Novae Militiae, investigating how the French abbot built an ideal model of a monastic knight. Among the characteristics, a virtuous knight was created and away from vices, characteristics that dialogued with the references of the Christian thought and morality of the period. We work with the hypothesis that the intention of Bernardo, through his practical and theoretical initiative with the Templars, was to reflect, structure and encourage a set of desirable behaviors to men of the time, contributing to the process of christianization of cavalry.

Analisamos as fontes Regula Commilitonum Christi e De Laude Novae Militiae, investigando como o abade francês construiu um modelo ideal de cavaleiro-monástico. Dentre as características, criou-se um cavaleiro virtuoso e afastado dos vícios, características que dialogavam com os referenciais do pensamento e da moral cristãos do período.
