Resumo: Currently, in Brazil, there is a growing enrollment and retention of students with disabilities in regular basic education. As this movement expands, it consequently requires attention to the inclusion of these students in higher education as well. The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural and pedagogical aspects that influence the access and retention of students with disabilities in higher education on a university campus of a University on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul. The research is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Science Education and belongs to the line of research "Teaching and Learning Processes in Formal and Non-Formal Environments". This is an investigation with a qualitative approach, with an initial theoretical and bibliographical base, on items that include field, exploratory and descriptive research. The study included young people with disabilities, high school graduates from two schools, one from the public network and the other from the private network in the city of Uruguaiana/RS, and university teachers with included students. To achieve the proposed objective, data collection instruments were used, namely: bibliographic analysis, application of an objective questionnaire, semi-structured interview, with a field survey design. The research was developed over four years 2021/2025, in stages, the first stage was to carry out a bibliographic analysis of the literature ; the second stage, the application of an objective questionnaire to young people leaving high school ; the third stage, a documentary analysis of statistical data collection, referring to the number of enrollments and dropouts of students with disabilities ; the fourth stage was carried out based on the application of a semi- structured interview to professors at the University researched. Bardin's content analysis was used to analyze the data collected. As a result, it was observed that the inclusion of people with disabilities in universities is a recent reality. The topic, despite being incorporated into a range of public and institutional policies, still lacks actions to implement these standards. When limiting the research to young graduates, it was found that inclusive education is still progressing slowly, both in the experiences during basic education and in the lack of information and guidance for access to higher education. Based on the interviews conducted with the professors, in light of the findings, the professors stated that they are faced with a lack of support from the university when it comes to training both professors and monitors. When analyzing the data regarding the construction of strategies in the last year by the Unipampa management, it is understood that there has been a significant movement.

À medida que esse movimento se expande, consequentemente requer a atenção para a inserção desses estudantes também no ensino superior. O presente estudo teve por finalidade investigar os aspectos estruturais e pedagógicos que influenciam no acesso e permanência de estudantes com deficiência no ensino superior em um campus universitário de uma Universidade da fronteira oeste do Rio Grande do Sul. A pesquisa está vinculada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação Educação em Ciências e pertence à linha de pesquisa "Processos de Ensino e Aprendizagem em Ambientes Formais e Não Formais". Trata-se de uma investigação com abordagem qualitativa, com base inicial teórica e bibliográfica, nos itens que contemplam a pesquisa de campo, exploratória e descritiva. Participaram do estudo, jovens com deficiência, egressos do ensino médio de duas escolas, sendo uma da rede pública e outra da rede privada do município de Uruguaiana/RS, e professores universitários com alunos inclusos. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, foram utilizados instrumentos de coleta de dados, sendo eles: análise bibliográfica, aplicação de questionário objetivo, entrevista semiestruturada, com delineamento de levantamento de campo. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida durante quatro anos 2021/2025, em etapas, a primeira etapa foi a realização de uma análise bibliográfica da literatura ; a segunda etapa, a aplicação de um questionário objetivo aos jovens egressos do ensino médio ; a terceira etapa, uma análise documental de levantamento de dados estatísticos, referente ao número de matrículas e evadidos dos estudantes com deficiência ; a quarta etapa foi realizada a partir da aplicação de uma entrevista semiestruturada aos professores da Universidade pesquisada. Para análise dos dados coletados, foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo de Bardin. Como resultado observa-se que a inclusão de pessoas com deficiência nas universidades é uma realidade recente. O tema, apesar de incorporado por uma gama de políticas públicas e institucionais, ainda carece de ações que efetivem essas normas. Ao delimitar a pesquisa aos jovens egressos, constata-se que a educação inclusiva ainda caminha a passos lentos, seja nas vivências durante a educação básica, assim como na falta de informações e orientações para o acesso ao ensino superior. A partir da entrevista realizada aos docentes diante do apurado, os professores manifestam que se deparam com a falta de suporte da universidade em se tratando de capacitação tanto dos docentes quanto dos monitores.
