Avaliação clínica do grau de paralelismo obtido no preparo de planos de guia de dentes suportes de prótese parcial remóvivel, utilizando paralelizador intrabucal

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the ParalAB intraoral device as a transference method of guide planes and to verify the influence of the arch and position of the abutment teeth on preparations produced by students and dentists. 321 guide planes were prepared by different collaborators using the ParalAB device on 92 casting models deriving from patients of partial removable denture dental clinic. The preparations were divided in two groups: group 1: dentists (n=44) and group 2: students (n=48). These groups were subdivided in subgroups according to the arch (S - maxilla and I - mandible) and position (A - anterior teeth and P - posterior teeth). The inclinations of guide planes were indirectly measured by means of an Order Dial Indicator that provided the angular deviation related to the path of insertion. The mean value obtained for the groups 1 and 2 were respectively 0,64 ± 0,36º and 0,77 ± 0,45º, for the subgroups S and I were 0,78 ± 0,47º and 0,64 ± 0,34º and for both the subgroups A and P were 0,71 ± 0,41o. The ANOVA test (5%) revealed no significant differences for the effects operator and position, as well as their interactions, and for the arch type, there was significant difference. The results of Tukey test (5%) for the type of arch were 0,59 ± 0,32o for the group 1I, 0,70 ± 0,38o for 1S, 0,69 ± 0,42o for 2I and 0,78 ± 0,43o for 2S. It was concluded that the ParalAB device was able to produce guide planes with low deviations related to the path of insertion and to reduce the influence of the professional experience on the quality of preparations made on maxilla and that few new preparations were needed
