Resumo: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Program University for All (Prouni) in a private College situated in the Municipality of Presidente Prudente (SP), regarding the satisfaction, the expectations, the evasion, and the permanence of scholarship holders in the chosen course. The specific objectives were: (1) to characterize the profile of Prouni scholarship holders of a private College of Presidente Prudente (SP); (2) to identify the satisfaction degree and the expectations of these students in relation to the chosen course (3) to identify the evasion factors of these students, according to the view of the College; and (4) to evaluate the efficacy of the actions implemented by the College to support the permanence of its scholarship holders. The study, of a quanti-qualitative nature, comprised a sample of 86 scholarship holders randomly selected from the six courses with more scholarship holders. For the data collection, a questionnaire was applied to the sample of students and a semi-structured interview was done with twelve students from the sample and with the coordinator of social projects of the College. The quantitative data were analyzed through basic statistics and the qualitative ones through the technique of content analysis. As for the Prouni scholarship holders, the study revealed that they, in their absolute majority, are women (76%), classified in the 18-24 age group (54%), single (71%), residents at Presidente Prudente (SP) (54%), workers (80%), and with full scholarship (77%). This profile shows that the scholarships have been effectively given to students of low income. Regarding the degree of satisfaction with Prouni, what satisfied 53% of the students were the opportunity and the benefits of the scholarship and what dissatisfied 47% of them was the College structure. The quality of the education received by the Prouni scholarship holder seems to become partially compromised by the institutional-structural limitatitions of the receiving College of these students. While there was a manifestation of satisfaction with the course from a considerable portion of scholarship holders, there were expressions of frustrations with course from others, especially in relation to the quality of the education provided. Concerning the expectations of the scholarship holders, 54% of them pretend to conquer a public employment in their field of competency and dream to have professional growth. The study revealed that the scholarship holders hopes a more elevated personal and professional realization through the college diploma. To 90% of the scholarship students, there was no risk of course desistence, to 35% the value of the scholarship is fully adequate and to 27%, partially adequate. The index of evaded scholarship holders is low and the major risk of evasion or desistence occurs among students with partial scholarship. According to the coordinator of social projects, there was a reduction of scholarship holders and a greater adhesion to FIES, through guidance by the institution for reasons not explained to the interested parts, what show some fragility of Prouni which leaves the scholarship holders vulnerable to pressures and to interests extrinsic to Prouni. Complementary actions of financial support to scholarship holders, especially to those with partial scholarship, seem needed to support them in their costs of maintenance, housing and transportation

Made available in DSpace on 2016-01-26T18:49:57Z (GMT).
