Resumo: | Postmenopausal osteoporosis results in low bone mineral density, deterioration of bone microarchitecture, decreased bone strength, and increased risk of fragility fractures. Supplementation of bacteria from the Bifidobacterium genus has demonstrated beneficial effects on parameters indicative of osteoporosis, but the results have been controversial. This systematic review aimed to increase the level of evidence of supplementation of bacteria of the genus Bifidobacterium in induced osteoporosis in murine, rats and ovariectomized female mice (OVX). The search was conducted using the PubMed, Embase, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Web of Science and Scielo databases in January 2023 and was repeated in July 2023, using the keywords “osteoporosis”, “murine”, “ovariectomized” , “OVX” and “Bifidobacterium”. 89 full articles, abstracts or book chapters were found and after detailed screening, 5 studies met the inclusion criteria, using 66 animals, randomly divided between control and treatment groups. The results demonstrated that oral supplementation of bacteria of the genus Bifidobacterium significantly improves parameters indicative of bone health BMD, BMC, BV/TV% and Tb.Sp. In conclusion, this meta-analysis provided evidence that bacteria of the genus Bifidobacterium are involved in anti-osteoporotic mechanisms in female OVX rats and mice, as a preclinical model and suggests that further studies in postmenopausal women as a therapeutic alternative or complementary therapy conventional osteoporosis treatments are carried out. |

A suplementação de bactérias do gênero Bifidobacterium tem demonstrado efeitos benéficos em parâmetros indicativos de osteoporose, porém os resultados têm sido controversos. Esta revisão sistemática teve como objetivo aumentar o nível de evidência da suplementação de bactérias do gênero Bifidobacterium na osteoporose induzida em murinos, ratas e camundongos fêmeas ovariectomizadas (OVX). A pesquisa foi conduzida utilizando os bancos de dados PubMed, Embase, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Web of Science e Scielo em janeiro de 2023 e foi repetida em julho de 2023, usando as palavras-chave “osteoporose”, “murinos”, “ovariectomizadas”, “OVX” e “Bifidobacterium”. Foram encontrados 89 artigos completos, resumos ou capítulos de livros e após triagem detalhada, 5 estudos atenderam os critérios de inclusão, utilizando 66 animais, divididos randomicamente entre grupos controle e tratamento. Os resultados demonstraram que a suplementação oral de bactérias do gênero Bifidobacterium melhoram significativamente os parâmetros indicativos da saúde óssea BMD, BMC, BV/TV% e Tb.Sp.
