Resumo: | This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the control program for the invasive exotic species Leucaena leucocephala and Tithonia diversifolia, implemented in the Veredinha Ecological Park, Federal District, Brazil. The justification for the research is based on the threat these species pose to the ecological integrity of the conservation unit, compromising biodiversity and essential ecosystem services such as water regulation and soil fertility. By competing with native flora, these invasive species alter ecosystem structure, resulting in biodiversity loss and degradation of ecological processes. The research employed remote sensing and geoprocessing techniques to map invaded areas, alongside field analyses and literature reviews. The results indicate that between 2014 and 2023, the area invaded by T. diversifolia increased from 2,009 m² to 37,258 m², highlighting its aggressiveness. Conversely, the infestation of L. leucocephala remained stable during the same period, with a reduction in the affected area from 6,976 m² to 4,909 m² due to management interventions. Manual removal proved effective in containing the expansion of invasive species and promoting the gradual recovery of native vegetation in some areas. However, continued monitoring and the implementation of new control strategies are essential to ensure ecological restoration and the preservation of biodiversity within the conservation unit. The study concludes that integrated, adaptive, and science-based actions are essential for ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation, requiring public policies to ensure long-term sustainability. |

A justificativa da pesquisa se baseia na ameaça que essas espécies representam para a integridade ecológica da unidade de conservação, comprometendo a biodiversidade e os serviços ecossistêmicos essenciais, como a regulação hídrica e a fertilidade do solo. Ao competirem com a flora nativa, essas invasoras modificam a estrutura do ecossistema, resultando em perda de diversidade biológica e degradação dos processos ecológicos. A pesquisa utilizou técnicas de sensoriamento remoto e geoprocessamento para mapear as áreas invadidas, além de realizar análises de campo e revisão bibliográfica. Os resultados indicam que, entre 2014 e 2023, a área invadida por T. diversifolia aumentou de 2.009 m² para 37.258 m², destacando sua agressividade. Em contrapartida, a infestação de L. leucocephala se manteve estável no período, com uma redução na área afetada de 6.976 m² para 4.909 m², devido às intervenções de manejo. A remoção manual foi eficaz para conter a expansão das invasoras e promover a recuperação gradual da vegetação nativa em algumas áreas. No entanto, a continuidade do monitoramento e a implementação de novas estratégias de controle são essenciais para garantir a restauração ecológica e a preservação da biodiversidade da unidade de conservação.
