Resumo: | It is a transversal study, with 78 elderly people, both sexes, aging between 61 and 87 years old. The objective was to evaluate the Functional Health Literacy in elderly people who are hypertensive, diabetics and users of Family Health Strategy of Passo Fundo, RS, Brazil. Data collection, carried out from May to July 2014, had the subject eligibility from the MINI-COG results which included the clock drawing test and evaluation of visual and auditive functions. The data collection was carried out by applying socio demographic and health information test and also the application of S-TOFHLA. Data analyses were performed by using Pearson's chisquare test, with significance level of 5%. There was an arterial hypertension predominance and treatment of diseases for more than 10 years. Low school level and inadequate FHL were identified in 50% of the elderly people. The results showed association between low school level and inadequate FHL. These are presented in the form of a scientific paper as scientific production 1 of this dissertation. A coleta de dados, realizada de maio a julho de 2014, teve a elegibilidade dos sujeitos a partir dos resultados do MINI-COG, que inclui o teste do desenho do relógio, testes de acuidade visual e auditiva. A coleta de dados foi realizada através da aplicação de questionário com informações sociodemográficas e de saúde, e aplicação do S-TOFHLA. Realizou-se análise dos dados pelo Teste Qui-quadrado de Pearson, com nível de significância de 5%. Houve predomínio de hipertensão arterial e tratamento das doenças superior a 10 anos. Identificou-se baixa escolaridade e inadequado LFS em 50% dos idosos. Os resultados mostraram associação entre baixa escolaridade e inadequado LFS. Estes estão apresentados na forma de artigo científico como produção científica 1 desta dissertação.
