Introduction: Palliative Care (PC) is a holistic and comprehensive approach centered on the individual, aiming to improve the quality of life of patients, caregivers, and families. Effective PC requires a qualified multidisciplinary team with a solid understanding of its basic principles. With population aging and the increasing prevalence of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), the demand for PC has been rising, underscoring the need for both technical and humanistic training among healthcare professionals. Objectives: To assess the level of knowledge and self-efficacy in PC among professionals from the multidisciplinary health team of a hospital in northern Rio Grande do Sul (RS). Methods: This observational, cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study included 231 professionals from the hospital’s multidisciplinary team. Data were collected between October 2024 and March 2025 using the Palliative Care Knowledge and Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (BPW-BR) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Results: The findings of this dissertation were presented in a scientific article entitled Palliative Care: Perception and Self-Efficacy of Professionals in a Multiprofessional Team, which will be submitted to a peerreviewed journal. They also resulted in a second production, a book chapter entitled Palliative Care in Intensive Care Units, published in 2025 in Musculoskeletal Disorders: Prevention and Rehabilitation. Both productions contribute to disseminating knowledge on PC in different healthcare contexts. Conclusion: This dissertation fostered discussion and reflection on PC within the multidisciplinary team, broadening their understanding of its relevance in clinical practice. It also allowed the identification of professionals’ levels of knowledge and perceived self-efficacy, revealing strengths and gaps that may guide the development of continuing education strategies. Such strategies are essential for strengthening qualified and humanized care and have proven significant for expanding knowledge in the field.
