The goal of this paper is to investigate the musicality in the church having as case study the Igreja Presbiteriana Independente de Presidente Prudente (Independent Presbyterian Church in the city of Presidente Prudente), in the countryside of the State of Sao Paulo, in Brazil. The study has double theoretical referential, one is historical and the other, scientific. Since our hypothesis is that the body of beliefs of that church has been influenced by the songs that are sung by its members, we have decided to focus our attention on the most common songs rendered at the worship services, the favorite ones of the community. We also turned our attention to the aesthetic behavior during the worship services when worshippers were singing. That behavior was registered with pictures taken during the services. The results reached here are the product of a collaborative work with the church worship leaders, musicians, as well as, the church leadership and members. The research involved long participative observation and interviews that took place between the years 2015 and 2016. Certainly, this research will inspire and be an important resource to other researches in the same field. Hopefully it will benefit other religious groups as they try to understand and study the processes involved in the music and faith combination or music and body of beliefs (dogmas) combined. The relevance of this paper is the historical and scientific approach of music in a religious context.
