Transferência e contratransferência no ministério pastoral

This study aims to determine the existence of transference and countertransference in pastoral ministry. We conducted a qualitative research and the subjects were pastors and psychologists, male and female, religious or not.The methodological procedure used for the research was the application of a multiple choice questionnaire with twenty-one questions related to counseling / therapy. Initially we contacted forty people who voluntarily agreed to participate: ten male ministers, ten female ministers, ten female psychologists and ten male psychologists. They received the questionnaire via email sent by Google docs. All the participants received and sign the informed consent and it was provide to them all the information on the survey; answers were sent to an excel doc. Of the forty people who agreed to participate, twenty-five participants answered the questionnaire, fourteen did not answerd the email with the questionnaire, and one person after receiving the email with the questions, answered that do to personal matters would not participate, fact that we analysed as data for the research, considering that the questions caused discomfort. Five participants expressed via email an interest for the results of the research. Research results pointed to the professionals training differences, particularly with regard to the care and treatment provided and also how witch professional understands, experiences and manages the facts and events. Based on the theories presented and supported by the data analysis we inferred that the concepts of transference and countertransference can be manifested in pastoral ministry, that points to the need to care for the pastor and a better investment in their education in order that such concepts are known and understood helping ministers, theology students and spiritual counselors to understand better their counselee and community members so that they can expand their knowledge and improve the quality of their work and their relationships. Therefore, it is important to expand the research, extending to other areas and other locations offering the material to those who are dedicated to counseling and others to improve the quality of services provided.
