Resumo: The main objective of this essay is to analyze the obesity, a rapid growing health problem that brings within costs for the well-being of the economic agents and for the market in general. By comparing, two research lines, the first one the traditional health economics that take as premise the neoclassical theory, followed by the behavioral health economics. It would be possible to compare how the different theories explain the problem and how they can address the question for solving it. This study will only be possible with a large literature review, including comparing some application cases of interventions.

This study will only be possible with a large literature review, including comparing some application cases of interventions.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar um problema de saúde chamado obesidade, que cresce a cada ano em um processo global e generalizado, onerando não somente a saúde individual, mas também gerando custos para a economia em geral. Este estudo será desenvolvido com base em duas linhas de pesquisa diferentes: 1) a economia da saúde tradicional, que se apoia sobre a teoria neoclássica, e 2) a ótica comportamental da economia da saúde. Dessa forma, será possível comparar como as óticas explicam o problema e as possíveis soluções que elas oferecem ao problema raiz, além de apresentar uma compilação de políticas pautadas na agenda da pesquisa da economia comportamental para combate à obesidade.
