Resumo: In the constantly changing environment, the search for better results and performance in Supply Chain Management (GCS) and the firm are crucial factors for the survival of companies in a highly competitive scenario. In this sense, the use of technologies such as blockchain at GCS, which is a fairly new topic, and has been the subject of studies both in the academic field and by companies seeking efficiency in their chains has aroused interest in research. Thus, the study approached the use of blockchain technology from the perspective of Transaction Cost Economics together with the constructs of Strategic Orientation of the GCS, Performance of the GCS and the Firm. The objective was to assess the impact of the use of blockchain technology on Supply Chain Management with a focus on GCS Strategic Orientation and its relationship with Chain Performance and consequently the Firm mediated by the Transaction Cost Economics (ECT). In this context, the research was carried out in two phases. The first, of a qualitative exploratory nature, through in-depth interviews with three managers of companies operating in the human health segment and their respective suppliers of services and supplies The data collected from this phase were treated by content analysis. With the results of the exploratory research, the second phase was carried out, this being of a descriptive nature of the quantitative type. At this moment, a questionnaire was developed and applied to a total of 103 respondents, chosen for accessibility, with the same profile as the subjects of the research carried out in the first phase. In both phases, the companies participating in the present study used blockchain technology or intended to use it, that is, in the initial phase of the project. The data collected at this stage were treated by descriptive statistics (to examine the outliers data) and by modeling in structural equations. The treated data revealed that, although the use of technology in 86% of the surveyed companies was in the embryonic phase, it is an important management tool, having positive consequences on the chain's performance and consequently the firm being partially mediated by the Cost Economy Transaction Finally, it is suggested to continue this research by expanding the sample size, applying it to other sectors of activity and observing the use of technology in stages of maturity and advanced.
