Resumo: The objective of this study was to verify the effect of the gestational age and the parturition order upon the moment of the visualization so much of the embryonic vesicle as of the embryo; the size of the vesicles and of the embryos; the accuracy, sensibility and specificity of the ultrasound diagnosis. Besides correlating the total number of newborn pigs with the number of counted vesicles, in days 21 and 22 post artificial insemination, during the ultrasound exam, and with for accuracy of the diagnosis method. There were used 192 swinish females, come in the 18th and 22nd day of gestation, which were examined with transcutaneous ultrasound device (Aloka SSD 500) equipped with 5.0 MHz convex sectorial probe. The visualization of the embryonic vesicle was possible in up to 97.2 % of the cases, in all days and the embryos could be detected from 18th day after artificial insemination. There was no correlation between parturition order and the moment of the visualization of the vesicles (P>0.05), however, the influence of this variable was observed on the moment of the visualization of the embryo (P<0.05). The size of the vesicles correlated directly with thegestational age (P<0.05), while the size of the embryos did not demonstrate any correlation with pregnancy age (P>0.05) in the studied period. The method's accuracy, sensibility and specificity were not influenced neither by gestational age nor by the parturition order (P>0.05). The accuracy of the diagnosis was influenced so much by the litter size as by the vesicles quantity, being higher when the number of pigs and the number of vesicles were alike or superior to 8 (P<0.05). There was no correlation between number of newborn pigs and the number of embryonic vesicles counted during the ultrasound exam (P>0.05). Based in these results, it concludes that ultrasound in the swinish production is a technique with elevated accuracy in the precocious diagnosis of gestation, mostly when the number of vesicles and of newborn pigs are alike or superior to 8. However, the 5.0 MHz probe is not recommended for predict the size of litter in the conditions of this study was conducted.

Além de correlacionar o número total de leitões nascidos com o número de vesículas contabilizadas, nos dias 21 e 22 pós-inseminação artificial durante o exame ultrasonográfico, e com a acurácia do método diagnóstico, assim como, determinar a relação entre o número de vesículas com a acurácia do ultra-som. Foram utilizadas 192 fêmeas suínas examinadas, entre os dias 18 e 22 de gestação, via transcutânea com aparelho de ultra-som (Aloka SSD 500) equipado com transdutor setorial convexo de 5,0 MHz. A visualização da vesícula embrionária foi possível em até 97,2 % dos casos, nos cinco dias de exame e os embriões puderam ser detectados a partir do dia 18 após inseminação artificial. Não houve correlação entre a ordem de parto e o momento davisualização das vesícula(P>0,05),entretanto, observou-se a influência desta variável sobre o momento da visualização do embrião (P<0,05). O tamanho das vesículas se correlacionou diretamente com a idade gestacional (P<0,05), enquanto que o tamanho dos embriões não demonstrou nenhuma correlação com o tempo de prenhez (P>0,05). A acurácia, a sensibilidade e a especificidade do método não foram influenciadas nem pelo tempo gestacional nem pela ordem de parto das fêmeas (P>0,05). A acurácia do diagnóstico sofreu influência tanto do tamanho da leitegada como da quantidade de vesículas, sendo mais alta quando o número de leitões e o número de vesículas eram iguais ou superiores a 8 (P<0,05). Não houve correlação entre o número de leitões nascidos e o número de vesículas embrionárias contabilizadas durante o exame ultrasonográfico (P>0,05). Diante do exposto, conclui-se que a ultra-sonografia na produção suína é um método de elevada acurácia no diagnóstico precoce de gestação, principalmente quando o número de vesículas e de leitões nascidos é igual ou superior a 8. .
