Resumo: The theme of this work is the sustainability of family agriculture Family and the Agriculture Food Acquisition Program (PAA). The general objective of the study was to analyze the sustainability of family agriculture through the socioeconomic perspective within the scope of the PAA, having as a tool to measure it, the existence and use of the means to facilitate the commercialization of the products, the effective and continuous formation of income of the production, and the effects of the income from this program for the quality of life of family farmers. In order to meet the research problem and the proposed objectives, the qualitative methodology was used, with a descriptive nature in relation to the characterization of the objectives and the procedures consisted of a survey. To obtain the data, a questionnaire and interview with farmers participating in the PAA and with the manager of the farmers' cooperative were carried out. The sample of this research consisted of 28 farmers from the three municipalities that compose the universe of the sample. After analyzing the data, it was verified that the PAA has strengthened family agriculture in the region through income generation, price guarantee and the absorption of part of the family agriculture production. However, it has been observed that there are still bottlenecks in the commercialization of family production. Regarding the Capacity, it was verified that the family farmers seek other commercialization channels, adapting also the new demands of the market, increasing the productive capacity and diversifying the production. With respect to Equity, it was found through the social variables that there is a quality of life for the producing families. Regarding the sustainability of family agriculture, it is pointed out that, the agricultural activity of the region has contributed to a better quality of life for the farmers, through access to goods, health and food, political participation and social inclusion of women and through opportunities and access to information. It is concluded that, the PAA has influenced the sustainability of family agriculture in Pernambuco.

It is concluded that, the PAA has influenced the sustainability of family agriculture in Pernambuco.Esta dissertação tem como temática a sustentabilidade da agricultura familiar e o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos da Agricultura Familiar – PAA.O objetivo geral do trabalho foi analisar a sustentabilidade da agricultura familiar através da perspectiva socioeconômica no âmbito do PAA, tendo como instrumento para mensurá-la, a existência e o uso dos meios para facilitar a comercialização dos produtos, a formação efetiva e contínua da renda da produção, e os efeitos da renda advinda deste programa para a qualidade de vida dos agricultores familiares. Para atender ao problema de pesquisa e aos objetivos propostos, utilizou-se a metodologia qualitativa, de natureza descritiva em relação a caracterização dos objetivos e os procedimentos consistiram em levantamento. Para obter os dados, foi realizado aplicação de questionário e entrevista com agricultores participantes do PAA e com o gestor da cooperativa dos agricultores. A amostra desta pesquisa foi composta por 28 agricultores dos três municípios que compõem o universo da amostra. Após a análise dos dados, constatou-se, que o PAA tem fortalecido a agricultura familiar da região por meio da geração de renda, garantia de preço e da absorção de parte da produção da agricultura familiar. Contudo, constatou-se que ainda existem gargalos na comercialização da produção familiar. Com relação à Capacidade, averiguou-se que os agricultores familiares buscam outros canais de comercialização, adaptando-se também as novas demandas do mercado, aumentando a capacidade produtiva e diversificando a produção. Com relação a Equidade, constatou-se através das variáveis sociais que existe qualidade de vida para as famílias produtoras. Em relação a sustentabilidade da agricultura familiar, aponta-se que, a atividade agrícola da região tem contribuído para uma melhor qualidade de vida dos agricultores, por meio do acesso a bens, saúde e alimentação, participação política e inclusão social da mulher e por meio das oportunidades e do acesso a informação.
