Qualidade do solo em ambiente de barragem subterrânea do semiárido no Estado de Pernambuco

The quality of the soil is a factor of great relevance for the maintenance of environmental quality. To investigate this quality it is necessary to know and analyze the main attributes related to the physical, chemical and biological properties of soils. This work aims to study the contribution of soils in an underground dam environment for the sustainability of agroecosystems based in a semiarid region of Pernambuco. The study site was a rural property in the municipality of Serra Talhada - PE. Four study areas were defined, differentiated by the internal characteristics of each area: A - area with presence of erosion furrows filled by vegetation; B - contribution area of an underground dam installed in the property; C - area of vegetation type caatinga; D - area of planting and use of the family, near the residence. Samples were collected in the 0.0m-0.10m and 0.20-0.30m layers and determined physical, chemical and biological attributes values. The results were analyzed statistically through tests of variance, principal component analysis (PCA) and clustering. The carbon concentrations of the study areas, important indicators of soil quality, were well below those found in areas under similar conditions. The soils of the studied areas presented, in general, high sand quantitative, aggregate stability and variable density, presenting better values for the deepest layer studied (0.20-0.30m). The soils in the studied areas were eutrophic. The evaluation of physical, chemical and microbiological quality indicators, together with the Participatory Rural Diagnosis, carried out with the family, suggest that the technologies implemented, especially the underground dam, provide conditions for the proper development of the existing family production system.
