This research had its origin in the verification of the incidence of lombalgy in employees of a foundry industry of gray and nodular iron. For the study, were fundamental the application of the ergonomic concepts to work. It was used as an instrument of research and collection of data, the direct observation, informal interviews, questionnaires with structured questions, videos and photographs. As the base of the research, the applied methodology was the Ergonomic Analysis of Work (A.E.T.), developed in its three stages: analysis of the demand; analysis of the task and the analysis of the activity. It was still sought, to research on the pains felt by the employees in the lumbar area what determined a deeper study of the postures adopted in the company by the employees. For the postural analysis, the method WinOWAS was used. Their results were calculated and analyzed for the due recommendations. With these results, beyond the obtained in the field research (through the application of questionnaires and observations), the existent correlations were calculated between the total removals from work and the removals by the lombalgies, occurred among the years of 2001 and 2005. It was aimed at calculating statistically, through the calculations of the linear correlation, the pains noticed by the employees, during the work day, as well as, its prolongation after its end. With the analysis of the obtained results, recommendations can be made for the foundry section, seeking the best quality of life for these workers and the decrease of lumbar embarrassaments, as well as to improve the productive process of the company.
