Resumo: A RISC-based platform is proposed for supporting the counting of red blood cells of wild animals. This platform is aimed for semi-automatic counting of the cells from different species of animals where size and volume of cells can greatly differ. The results show that this system can automatically count most of the cells correctly with an average error of only 1.88% of false negatives and 1.82% of false positives. It’s possible for the user to manually correct the results where a work at most 3.70%. It´s also possible to storage the images for future use.

It´s also possible to storage the images for future use.Este trabalho propõe um sistema de baixo custo baseado em uma plataforma com um processador RISC para contagem de células vermelhas (hemácias) de animais silvestres aplicável a animais domésticos. Este sistema tem o objetivo de realizar a contagem semi-automática de células de diferentes espécies de animais silvestre, cujos tamanhos e volumes variam consideravelmente. Os resultados obtidos com a contagem de células de cães e cavalos mostram que o sistema proposto consegue contar de modo automático a maioria das células, apresentando um erro médio de 1,88% de falsos negativos e de 1,82% de falsos positivos. O sistema permite ao usuário corrigir manualmente esta contagem, no máximo, 3,70% da quantidade total das células.
