Municipal management is expected to provide actions and practices that are capable of achieving and satisfying local public interests. This management can be more effective if it makes use of Public Governance practices. The present study aims to investigate how public governance practices have been applied in the Municipal Chambers of the Capital and the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. Municipal chambers, as representatives of the legislative power in the municipalities, the effectiveness of these institutions is directly linked to the quality of its governance practices. This work aimed to identify the main challenges and opportunities for improving municipal public management through the use of Governance practices. Efficient and participatory, contributing to the strengthening of democracy and local development. The literature on public governance has increasingly dedicated itself to analyzing management practices at different levels of government. Municipal councils, despite their importance in formulating public policies, are still little studied. This research gap motivated this work, which seeks to contribute to knowledge about the governance practices adopted in these bodies. Applied research uses a qualitative approach, with exploratory and descriptive objectives. The selected method is case study. The analysis carried out revealed that Public Governance practices, including transparency, accountability, compliance and corporate responsibility, are being adopted, although still in an incipient and restricted manner.
