Nesse sentido, a contribuição da educação, especialmente da Educação Ambiental, é fundamental na formação do cidadão, e o papel dos professores é essencial para que isso ocorra. Entende-se que a formação dos professores implica em um processo de desenvolvimento permanente para o trabalho com Educação Ambiental, se faz necessário buscar novos conhecimentos tanto das temáticas ambientais quanto da forma com que a Educação Ambiental possa ser desenvolvida no ambiente escolar. Partindo dos desafios apresentados esta pesquisa discute a questão: “Qual o potencial de um Curso de Extensão em Educação Ambiental, com a temática Saneamento Básico, para fortalecer o trabalho com a Educação Ambiental em espaços escolares a partir de suas realidades? Buscando responder a esse questionamento foi elaborado e desenvolvido um curso de Educação Ambiental na perspectiva crítica, tendo como temática principal o Saneamento Básico. O objetivo geral da pesquisa centrou-se em avaliar a proposta e o desenvolvimento de um curso de formação continuada de professores para fortalecer a Educação Ambiental crítica nos espaços escolares. A pesquisa foi conduzida com abordagem qualitativa do tipo exploratória. Os dados obtidos durante o desenvolvimento do curso nos encontros presenciais e à distância (plataforma Moodle) foram analisados empregando análise de conteúdo (BARDIN, 2011). Ao analisar e refletir sobre o curso desenvolvido foi possível entender que este apresentou pontos positivos quando ao público envolvido, os conhecimentos trabalhados e, especialmente, as estratégias de ensino apresentadas com a finalidade de incentivar e/ou fortalecer a Educação Ambiental nas Instituições de Ensino. Diante desta constatação foi desenvolvido um produto educacional na forma de um caderno pedagógico intitulado “Material de apoio: estratégias para desenvolver a percepção pelo ambiente compartilhado” que tem por objetivo estimular a participação da comunidade escolar como um todo visando desenvolver um processo de ressignificar o espaço escolar e seu entorno.Considering the current environmental problem, knowledge and reflection on the environmental issue are extremely important. In this sense, the contribution of education, especially of Environmental Education, is fundamental in the formation of citizens. So, the work of teachers is essential for this to happen. It is understood that the training of teachers implies a process of permanent development to work with Environmental Education. In this sense, it is necessary to seek new knowledge both on environmental issues and on the way that EE can be developed in the school environment. Based on the challenges presented, this research discusses the question: What is the potential of an Extension Course in Environmental Education, with the theme Basic Sanitation, to strengthen the work with Environmental Education in school spaces based on their realities? To answer this question, an Environmental Education course was developed and developed in a critical perspective. Basic Sanitation was used as the main theme. The general objective of the research was to evaluate the proposal and the development of a continuing education course for teachers aiming to expand critical Environmental Education in school spaces. The research was conducted with an exploratory qualitative approach. The data obtained during the course development, in face-to-face and distance meetings (Moodle platform), were analyzed using content analysis (BARDIN, 2011). When analyzing and reflecting on the course developed, it was possible to understand that it presented positive points when it came to the public involved, the knowledge worked on and, especially, the teaching strategies presented to encourage and strengthen Environmental Education in Teaching Institutions.
