Resumo em Inglês: The very nature of nursing work requires skill in dealing with crucial circumstances, which may cause physical and mental damage. Factors of the work environment itself, resulting from organizational dynamics, especially indoors, can also have adverse effects on their quality of life. This study describes a quantitative approach, aimed to analyze the effects of noise and demands directed attention, the quality of life of nursing staff of an Obstetrical and Gynecological Surgical Center (CCOG) of a University Hospital. Study participants were 26 nurses, five nurses and 21 technicians and nursing assistants. For its implementation was performed: the measurement of noise in the CCOG environment using a meter sound pressure level, the identification of demands of directed attention that nursing professionals are exposed and assessing the quality of life through the application of the instruments Attention Demands and SF-36 respectively, and the application of a questionnaire to identify the presence of pathologies, complaints or symptoms reported by the subjects. The results showed that: a) the sound pressure levels in the environment of CCOG varied from 43.7 dB (A) 104.4 dB (A) and lower Leq noise was found to be 56.6 dB (A); b) the nursing staff of CCOG is exposed to multiple demands of attention and the three situations of demand that required more mental effort to direct attention were - "Insufficient staff to cover the unit properly", "High level of noise in the unit" and "Need to give guidance to the patient"; c) 19 subjects reported some health problem and only one subject did not report complaints or symptoms, d) nurses showed good quality of life, with scores above 70 in all domains and technicians and nursing assistants in general average, had scores higher than 65 in all domains, indicating a good quality of life. It was concluded that despite the sound pressure levels of CCOG being above the minimum level recommended by NBR 10152/2000 and the nurses being exposed to multiple demands to direct attention, these factors do not seem to adversely affect the quality of life of these professionals.

Submitted by Divanete Paiva (divanete.paiva@utp.br) on 2018-07-05T12:17:41Z No. of bitstreams: 1 EFEITOS DO RUIDO.pdf: 1386439 bytes, checksum: ea612274ea965318a503ff283e094264 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2018-07-05T12:17:41Z (GMT).
