The Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) in 4.771/1965 Federal Law - Brazilian Forest Code e others laws, needed more studies to verify if they are applicable in urban areas. One of solution from the irregular occupations in APPs, is the creation of Units of Conservation (UCs), or else, the implantation of public use in this areas, for example the implantation of a linear park. There also is the necessity of population participation, when planning the creation of units of conservation, becoming a participation planning to consider the federal law 9.985/2000. The Units Conservation creation attend the environmental disposition in the Forest Code e the 10.257/2001 Federal Law – Statute of the City, by the urban disposition. This study has a principal objective evaluate the perception about creation of UCs in urban APPs, to contribute to sustainable use if compared to the recuperation of forest in marginal along the courses of water. The methodology used to develop this research was studies of cases of four parks in Curitiba, PR: Municipal Natural Atuba Park, Municipal Natural and Leisure “General Iberê de Mattos” – Bacacheri Park, Municipal Natural Cambuí Park and Municipal Natural São Lourenço Park. It has been used documental information, registers and photos “in loco”, as well as, it has been verified the values and knowledge of park visitors, using questionnaires about perception and by the interviews in questionnaires with people from society and public administration. They will bring one perspective about the thematic seen in this study, or else, if the implantation of Conservation Units brings the benefits to improve the quality of life in urban areas.
